Description

“KMHS provides medication services in the outpatient setting through teams focused on several categories of clients, including children, adults and older adults.  We have some flexibility of assignment for this posted position, so we welcome interest in serving any of these categories.”

PURPOSE:
Provide psychiatric evaluation, medication management, follow-up and consultation to patients individually and jointly with team members, family members and significant others. Become an integral part of the treatment team, assuring adequate initial and ongoing assessment, helping team members to best use and expand their own skills, and providing a resource to team members for all aspects of psychiatry.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
• Exchange information and help to develop treatment plans and approaches to patient care.  This is typically done at a treatment team meeting regularly each week.
• Manage an ongoing caseload of patients on medication. Patients may be seen individually, with case managers, with family members or other medication management endeavors as may be developed.
• Provide leadership in providing formal and informal education for the team, e.g. present cases, lecture, and participate in the in-service program for the staff.
• Participate in administrative activities including meetings of the Medical Services Unit, quality assurance activity, and participate in the clinic with the nurses and personnel as needed.
• Serve as a resource and backup consultant to the nurses in the medication clinic.
• Collaborate with other ARNPs and Psychiatrists to provide five-day-a-week coverage for the medication clinic for nurse consultation and urgent patient needs.
• Provide charting/reports and client documentation as necessary in a complete, accurate, and timely manner.
• In addition to the above, any other responsibilities appropriate to the position and not specifically listed in the job description

 
Position Requirements

ARNP license with prescriptive authority in the State of Washington with a specialty in adult psychiatry.  Experience with chronically mentally ill adults preferred.  Excellent verbal and written skills and the ability to communicate with chronically mentally ill consumers.  Must be able to work collaboratively with agency staff, community providers, and family members of consumers.
