About the Position:
The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining the design and integrity of Friedman LLP’s internal network. They will provide expert technical assistance to team members with high-level system and networking requests.
This position is also a support position for the firm’s network environment (LAN, WAN, and Wireless systems). You will work independently and as part of a team to answer service desk calls, urgently analyze technical issues, address Level 2 escalations, and troubleshoot over the phone/onsite/via remote access. Occasional travel to our other offices will be required in support of Friedman LLP's internal network.


  • Network Administration
    • Creation, deletion, and attribute setting of network user accounts
    • Monitor password resets and account lockouts
    • Account set-up for ProSystems Tax
    • Develop scripts to automate network administration functions
    • Maintain and troubleshoot firm’s physical Ethernet network
    • Maintain and track support contracts
    • Ensure Exchange E-mail and anti-spam working properly
      • Determine why e-mails may not be reaching users’ mailboxes
  • Maintain server uptime by
    • Ensuring critical and non-critical updates are applied correctly
    • Configuring management tools for logging and reporting of problems
    • Monitoring system resources
    • Planning upgrades
    • Planning for power outages and service interruptions
    • Virtualizing servers
  • Maintain remote access availability
    • Monitor offices’ internet connections and VPN availability
    • Troubleshoot Citrix issues
  • Monitor data backup systems
    • Ensure data integrity of backups
    • Restore data
  • Maintain workstation and server integrity by
    • Monitoring antivirus and antispyware software for proper function
    • Maintaining policies minimizing user initiated damage
    • Testing software for compatibility and stability
  • Supporting Helpdesk, All Offices
    • Assist in escalated trouble tickets
    • Ensure problems are resolved in a timely manner
  • Planning
    • Evaluate and recommend new technologies to increase firm productivity
    • Establish IT department standards and monitor compliance
    • Develop and implement IT integration plans for acquired firms
    • Design and test Disaster Recovery scenarios
  • Design and implement automatic software distribution techniques
  • Documentation
    • Document firm’s VPN and network topology
    • Write procedures for internal IT staff use

Position Requirements

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or similar discipline. MSCA preferred
  • 5 or more years of relevant work experience in a similar environment
  • Expert knowledge of MS Windows Server 2008, 2012, & 2016, MS Active Directory, MS Exchange 2010 on premise, MS Office 2010-2016 & 365, VMware ESXi, Juniper ScreenOS firewalls, Citrix NetScaler, Citrix XenApp 7.x, Veeam Backup & Replication, Sophos Antivirus & PureMessage, VPNs
  • Experience in Public Accounting or Professional Services Firms strongly preferred
  • Must be organized, self- starter and results oriented
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
