Specialist A, International GC  


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following:

  1. Communicates with customers and corporate accounts by phone, email, and fax;
  2. Participates in meetings with corporate accounts locally and internationally;
  3. Schedules pack/delivery dates with domestic and international agents;
  4. Provides Client & Corporate Accounts with Customer Service Support;
  5. Issues export documents;
  6. Tracks shipments;
  7. Runs reports, including, but not limited to, Status Reports;
  8. Uses freight software, a.k.a., Traxx®;
  9. Tracks shipments by phone and internet;
  10. Data entry;
  11. Contracts with agents, truckers, airlines, steamship lines, customs brokers, insurance agents, and third party service providers;
  12. Provides job cost summary for all services;
  13. Uses freight software a.k.a. Cargo Traxx®;
  14. Coordinates warehouse activities with GC client vendors;
  15. Follows up on client orders to ensure goods are supplied by client vendors;
  16. Oversees loading of containers domestically;
  17. Travels Locally and Internationally in performance of positional responsibilities;
  18. Constructs transportation plans;
  19. Audits carrier invoices;
  20. Writes corporate shipping/transportation policy;
  21. Administers quality control;
  22. Negotiates pricing with sea carriers, air carriers, truckers and custom brokers;
  23. Prepare rates for responses to RFP's for clients;
  24. Establishes and maintains relationship with corporate accounts;
  25. Manages moves to/from all regions;
  26. Oversees loading of containers internationally;
  27. Leads meetings with corporate accounts, both locally and internationally;
  28. Performs Carrier Rate negotiations and Contracting at an advanced level;
  29. Analyzes reports complex;
  30. Problem solving complex/advanced;
  31. Constructs client quotations complex/advanced;
  32. Enforces corporate shipping policies complex/advanced;
  33. Coordinates collections with COD clients;
  34. Negotiate pricing with insurance carriers;
  35. Writes, edits, and formats RFP's for vendors;
  36. Writes responses to RFP's for clients;
  37. Resolves complaints complex/advanced;
  38. Write status reports;
  39. Manages door to door international shipments - advanced;
  40. Writes reports simple;
  41. Counsels corporate accounts on transportation / logistics supply chain management;
  42. Filing;
  43. Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Four year degree from an accredited university; or five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Must possess the ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos; ability to write simple correspondence; ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Must have the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY: Must have the ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists; ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Must have a valid Driver’s License and a U.S. Passport for International Travel.
