Description

Under the minimum supervision and direction, the Commercial Lending Credit Analyst (CLCA) provides the supportive credit analysis to the Commercial Lending Department. CLCA should have a basic understanding in each of the 5 Cs– Character, Capacity, Capital, Collateral, and Conditions – within the commercial lending products that the Credit Union offers. The CLCA is required to proactively in assisting the Department identify and mitigate the risk associated with commercial lending in accordance to Credit Union’s policy, procedures, NCUA and Federal Regulations, and applicable laws at all times.

The CLCA must have the ability to verify, organize, analyze, and present the updated financial data, including but not limited to Income Statement, Balance Sheet, Cashflow Statement, and both Personal and Business Tax Returns, used for extending new credits, conducting annual loan reviews, as well as for problem loan management in the formats set forth by the Credit Union in timely manner.

The CLCA must also have a basic understanding in the different types of the valuation methods used for both commercial and residential real estate lending and periodic loan reviews. The CLCA also prepare the pre-screening package for new origination, renewals, or refinance requests from both the BDO and Loan Participation channels. The CLCA assists in the preparation of the CQRs and ALR. The CLCA also assists the Commercial Banking Offers and Business Development Officers in collecting financial statements from Members.

 
Position Requirements

Experience:

Minimum two (2) to five (5) years of working experience in analyzing financial data in a commercial real estate lending environment similar to SFCU's commercial lending culture and operations.

Education/Certifications/Licenses:

High School Diploma, Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or similar field preferred

Core Job Skills:

Ability to independently and accurately analyze financials in a timely manner

Ability to recognize financial trends and patterns

Working knowledge of financial products/services and loan policies/products

Knowledge of related laws and regulations

Proficient in word processing and spreadsheet skills

Detaill oriented and organized

Ability to maintain proper credit file documentation

Core Communication Skills:

Ability to communicate and understand written and oral language

Ability to effectively and clearly present complex requests related to commercial lending to targeted audience

Excellent telephone etiquette

Good business writing skills

Core Interpersonal Skills:

Displays openness to others’ viewpoints and accepts constructive criticism

Displays ability to follow instructions; especially the more complex ones

Other Skills:

Self-starter and self-motivated

Working knowledge of the following programs is a plus:

  • nCino

  • DNA/FiServ

  • Co-Star
