About the Organization Founded as a preschool in 1953, the Children's Guild has transformed into a national leader, recognized for creating innovative educational, child welfare and behavioral health models that produce positive outcomes for children, youth, and families. Today, the Children's Guild is among the most experienced child serving organizations in the Greater Baltimore/Washington region. Each year, the agency's continuum of care and its 300+ professional staff help thousands of youth and their families achieve resiliency, dignity, and self-sufficiency. We operate therapeutic group homes, a treatment foster care program, and family help center located in Baltimore City, Baltimore County, Anne Arundel County and Prince George County. We also service students in our nonpublic special education programs in Baltimore City and Prince George's County. The Children's Guild also operates public charter schools located in Anne Arundel and Baltimore City and will open our first DC charter school in September, 2015. General Job Description:

The Receptionist Clerk is responsible for greeting all students, parents and guests who come to the campus and/or communicate by phone.

Academic Preparation and/or Experience:

Minimum requirements are a high school diploma. Excellent verbal communication skills, flexibility, and the ability to multi-task. Microsoft word and excel knowledge preferred.


I. Area of Responsibility: Reception

This task is successfully completed when:

a. All calls are answered no later than the third ring and are successfully directed to the requested party.

b. All night messages are directed quickly to the appropriate party.

c. All announcements are properly phrased prior to transmitting and are quickly and accurately directed to the appropriate party

d. Staff is notified immediately of a guest's presence. Staff is reminded when a guest has to wait longer than 5 minutes.

e. Emergencies or student crises are discretely and professionally acknowledged.

f. Staff members are discouraged from lingering at the desk.

g. Student attendance is recorded and forwarded to Health suite via fax machine.

h. Update bus list throughout the day.

j. Ensure office machines are adequately stocked.

k. Maintain staff directory, pager and extension list

l. Prepare mailbox labels for new hires/remove old labels

m. Assist in scheduling interviews and intakes

n. Inform supervisor when classroom and office supplies are getting low.

o. Assist in reference checks when possible.
