Summary:
The Stryker Systems Maintainer Instructor provides training on maintaining the Stryker family of vehicles including the M1128 Mobile gun system, the M1132 Engineer support vehicle, the M1133 Medical evacuation vehicle and the M1135 NBC recon vehicle. Training includes classroom and hands-on instruction in performing field level maintenance on the Stryker family of vehicles. Through application of technical knowledge and leadership skills, the Stryker Systems Maintainer Instructor helps Soldiers learn their trade and further their technical and life skills.
Specific duties may include, but are not limited to:
· Conduct Advanced Individual Training (AIT) successfully training assigned student soldiers
· Provide service augmentation to the Ordnance School using the TRADOC approved program of instruction.
· Provide classroom training and/or hands-on performance oriented training, and simulation/virtual training.
· Update student and instructor records, student counseling, and administrative duties in support of the Ordnance School.
· Provide immediate feedback (within three days of instruction); and assist in updating technical content of lesson material.
· Participate as a SME in developing revisions of the POIs, Lesson Plans and Training Support Packages (TSPs) to remedy any deficiencies or shortcomings identified during the preparation for and conduct of instruction.
· Meet a variety of schedules to accommodate training requirements.
· Conduct classroom/laboratory conferences, discussions, demonstrations, and practical exercises in accordance with course material, technical manuals, and student workbooks that are provided.
· State the action, conditions, and standard and be able to teach all lessons within the program of instruction.
· Administer performance based written tests and performance hands-on tests, conduct student critiques in accordance with USA ODS standard operating procedure, provide remedial training for students requiring additional instruction, and use proper questioning techniques, such as the Ask-Pause-Call-Evaluate method.
· Prepare the classroom, training area, and training materials, including reviewing lesson plans, subject matter material, preparing recovery training aids, and ensuring personal protective equipment (PPE) is utilized.
· Maintain preventive maintenance checks and services (PMCS) on all vehicle/equipment and notify the Chief Instructor, COR and/or Course Manager of non-mission capable equipment.
· Conduct academic counseling; complete counseling record, grade written and performance tests, supervise students at all times, evaluate student performance, and prepare and forward required documentation on any student released prior to graduation.
· Review outdated training materials and lesson plans within the respective course and submit suggested revisions and updates.
· Analyze and perform detailed analysis for training to include needs and requirements for training.
· Recommend changes and evaluate training material and curriculums to determine effectiveness.
· Provide professional and technical information and advice for training strategy outcomes.
· Improve instruction by suggestion and attempts with different approaches and methods.
· Initiate minor changes to improve course layout or to add additional material
· Serve as a principal source of technical information on which course revisions and actions are based.
· Review and recommend changes to doctrinal publications.
· Assist in the review of job analysis, task inventory, job task data cards, and task analysis information sheets.
· Evaluate student achievement and diagnose student learning difficulties for particularly low and high ability students or groups.
· Improve instruction through the application of innovative or advanced instructional techniques.
· Perform preventive maintenance on equipment as required, check out equipment for optimum operation, report malfunction in order that corrective action may be taken, and make recommendations and corrections for improved system performance based on direct knowledge and experience
Required Qualifications:
· Must possess a minimum of three years' specific experience in teaching, development or reviewing course materials, training aids, and manuals for vocational or military training programs for the specific MOS.
· Must be able to pass the student test in accordance with OD Regulation 350-18 before performance begins.
· Complete the U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command MOS or ASI- specific technical training
· Knowledge and hands-on skills in performing field level maintenance on the Stryker family of vehicles to include the suspension systems, steering systems, hydraulic systems, fire extinguisher/suppression systems and vehicular armament and associated items.
· Army Basic Instructor Course (ABIC) certified.
· Support Cadre Training Course (SCTC) certified.
· EPA Section 609- Clean Air Act 1990 (Auto A/C) certified
· Able to stand, walk or bend for long periods at a time.
· Able to lift up to 45 pounds.
· Basic knowledge of MS Office compute program
· Possess superior written and verbal communication skills
· Ability to work with minimum guidance
Clearance: Must pass a Tier 1 investigation that has been favorably adjudicated by the DoD CAF (or locally) for CAC eligibility and network access (IT-3 access for government.mil email account).
