Description

Manages the commercial banking group and all related operations. Must oversee the commercial banking officers and manage their performance to goal. Establish protocols and procedures to effectively carry out the performance goals of the group. This position will also manage and grow a portfolio of Member Business Loans. This growth will come from existing members and new borrowers from outside of the credit union. Attending marketing events and establish centers of influence.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Manage and develop Commercial Banking Officers
  2. Conduct regular 'One on One' meetings to provide feedback on performance and goals
  3. Provide training and guidance on managing existing portfolio and developing new business
  4. Responsible for the overall goals of the group
  5. Manage and assign portfolio
  6. Manage the SFCU's participation relationships within the group
  7. Develop new loans and deposits from existing portfolio by reviewing financials and asking for additional business
  8. Conduct regular training sessions for the team
  9. Develop external referral sources and attend marketing events
  10. Develop and service new secured and unsecured loans, and lines of credit
  11. Interview potential borrowers for their ability to qualify for the loan request
  12. Maintain regular contact with key borrowers
  13. Negotiate terms and conditions with existing members and prospects
  14. Manage exceptions (Bring all documentation and financial exceptions to date)
  15. Oversee communications and letters sent to borrowers about necessary paperwork
  16. Supervise Commercial Loan Requests (New, Existing, extensions, Reviews, …)
  17. Research market conditions and proper due diligence on all loan requests
  18. Present deals to committee when necessary
  19. Keep past dues and maturities to a minimum

Is responsible for compliance with all required regulations and polices, especially with all Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), NCUA Rules and Regulations, Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) policies, Privacy Act, procedures and regulations.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university.  Minimum of five years or equivalent experience in commercial banking

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. 

 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

 

OTHER SKILLS

Must have personal computer skills including familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
