About the Role

Proterra is hiring a Senior Financial Analyst based in Burlingame, CA. The focus of the role is financial planning and analysis and corporate finance with work including financial modeling, developing business processes, strategic analysis, and reporting. Additional focus areas will include business development for financing products, investor relations, and ad-hoc projects. The ideal candidate will combine strong financial and strategic acumen with rigorous analysis to inform decision-making by the company’s senior leadership. This position will report to the Manager of Corporate Finance.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to the below. Responsibilities will evolve alongside the company’s needs and increase with strong performance.

  • Lead financial planning activities, including the development of regular forecasts through coordination with cross-functional teams
  • Maintain and improve business planning tools, including the corporate financial model
  • Compare actual results vs. the forecast and analyze the drivers of any difference
  • Prepare financial review packages for the CFO and other executives
  • Evaluate the economic and strategic considerations of financing alternatives
  • Support the execution of debt and equity capital raises, including a potential initial public offering, to fund the company’s growth while reducing financial risk and cost of capital
  • Support project finance activities, including the development of a financing company
  • Project manage the preparation for Board of Directors meetings
  • Respond to investor inquiries and communicate financial results
  • Develop ad-hoc financial models and analyses to support strategic decisions
  • Create presentations for executive and Board level audiences
  • Interact with executives and investors with poise and professionalism
  • Identify and pursue opportunities to improve the business

 
Position Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree from a high-quality university
  • 2+ years of experience in investment banking, consulting, corporate finance, or similar roles
  • Advanced financial modeling skills and knowledge of finance / accounting principles
  • Committed to the timely delivery of detail-oriented work and continuous improvement
  • Strong interpersonal and written / verbal communication skills
  • Maintains the highest level of integrity, respect for others, and a positive attitude
  • Passion for sustainability and / or advancing electric transportation
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
