Position Summary: As a result of growth, Astronics Ballard Technology is seeking to hire an engineering manager. This person will manage a team of engineers and projects that they work on. The ability to lead people, and to be effective as the person responsible for the development of highly-technical aviation products is key. Duties and Responsibilities: Functional management of a multi-discipline team of engineers Set goals and provide performance feedback Hire, manage, and develop employees Understand the market environment that Ballard competes in Lead projects from requirements to delivery in a structured engineering environment (AS9100) Effectively balance project quality, scope, schedule, resources, cost, manufacturability, and risks Transfer products from engineering to manufacturing team Work as part of a team of managers to make effective tradeoffs between projects Desired Skills and Characteristics: Helpful and innovative team player High personal integrity Commitment to excellence and high standards Ability to lead engineers Ability to think as a systems engineer Strong problem-solving and analytical skills Good judgment and the ability to make decisions Strong written and oral communication skills Strong interpersonal skills   Position Requirements Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or computer engineering and eight (8) years of progressive engineering experience Desirable: 3-5 years of engineering management experience SOX/404: This position is responsible for the performance of various functions that may be an integral part of the Company’s overall SOX / 404 internal control structure.
