Job Summary

This position is primarily responsible for the development and maintenance of in-house applications needed for the business department. Under the direction of the Manager, Business Systems, completes programming tasks to implement and maintain systems that will support the business units of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with the development of applications using Microsoft.Net (C#), HTML, and CSS. Makes use of Pirates' standards and industry best practices to write clear, readable, and efficient code.
  • Provides ongoing support, which includes troubleshooting and correcting defects in the systems as reported by end users.
  • Assists with preparation of detailed design specifications that define object relationships and their implementations. Reviews specifications with the Programmer/Analyst and Manager, Business Systems.
  • Develops and maintains data access components for custom business applications that adhere to Pirates' standards using T-SQL stored procedures, views, functions, Reporting Services reports, and CLR integration using Microsoft SQL Server and associated tools.
  • Work with the Programmer/Analyst to standardize all projects, and manage all code in a centralized location.
  • Participate in gathering and documenting user requirements. Understand business processes and required outcomes of the system and creates requirements definition document defining the business use cases.
  • Other duties as assigned by Manager, Business Systems.
  • Assist in estimating timelines for software development projects and tasks. Update Manager, Business Systems on project status and identify risks and concerns early in the project. Work to resolve issues and meet target deadlines.
  • Acts as a resource for custom development and coding projects within the organization.
 
Position Requirements
  • Enrolled in a Bachelor's Degree-Seeking program in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent at a Junior, Senior or Graduate level.
  • Experience developing software applications using Microsoft.NET (C#), HTML, and CSS.
  • Experience participating in all aspects of the software development lifecycle including requirements definition, design, development, testing, and implementation.
  • Ability to implement data access code using SQL Server tools.
  • Understanding of database documentation and design tools.
  • Ability to work with users to understand business processes, document system requirements, and develop applications that meet business objectives.
