SUMMARY
Develop and implement a comprehensive risk management program for MNGE to insure and protect human, financial and physical assets from losses and reduce the overall cost of risk.  Identify, develop and direct installation of physical safeguards, processes, procedures and systems to minimize or manage risk/losses for MNGE properties.  Research risk insurance products, from  plan design, coverage sufficiency and funding mechanisms;  collaborate with appropriate internal/external parties in identifying appropriate carriers, TPA’s, direct brokers in premium negotiations.  Coordinate claims handling with appropriate adjusters and legal staff; review contractual terms addressing assumption of liability coverage. Direct, control and coordinate Risk staff.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES
1. Develop and implement risk management programs including: health, safety environmental (HSE), emergency action/recovery, property, casualty, workman’s compensation and tort claim management; maintain manuals for such programs.

2. Establish measures and procedures to identify exposure to risk, such as performing assessments, identifying deviations or deficiencies, recommending corrective action, develop specifications on new projects and existing operations, analyzing contracts (e.g. lease/construction/services) to establish minimum required insurance and expectations on HSE regulatory compliance.

3. Research and recommend risk finance methods – insured through self-insured.  Collaborate with operational units and property GM’s to develop insurable values of property/assets and determine appropriate limits of coverage for worse/best case coverage.  Solicit and qualify property/casualty brokerage firms, insurers/re-insurers and alternative means for packaging coverage.  Communicate with CEO/COO on insurance terms, price and contract expectations for all MNGE properties; present to the Gaming Operations Authority Board for final selection of products, providers and funding.

4. Review and evaluate all MNGE property, liability, workman’s compensation claims for losses.  Ensure that reporting procedures are sufficient, that valuation or conditional changes are timely/thoroughly executed and the respective parties appropriately administer the plans.  Direct, coordinate or liaise with the claims adjusters, investigators or legal counsel in defense of MNGE risks. Maintain proper balance among losses retained, loss prevention expenses, claims adjusting costs and insurance premiums.

5. Prepare and issue regular and ad hoc reports on progress of risk management programs including forecasts of risk management costs, collaborating with accounting in developing budget and allocation of premiums.  Monitor loss ratio performance and coordinate litigation actions and ensure subrogation outcomes are secured as appropriate.

6.Maintain a wide variety of records and documents such as:  property and casualty insurance policies, claims filed and losses paid, management risk decisions, property valuations, safety and fire inspections, incident reports (on injuries, damage or loss of human, financial or physical assets), evacuation and fire control maps and risk-related verbal/written communications.

7. Provide assistance and support to other MNGE properties in executing MNGE Risk Management Policies, procedures and practices.

8. Keep current with HSE regulatory requirements and, risk management techniques and trends; maintain professional relationships with insurance brokers and insurers and professional societies (e.g. RIMS, OK Safety Council).  Advise management of major developments.

9. Determine appropriate Risk Staff to effectively/efficiently meet mission. Establish budget and controls to ensure success.  Build a competent and innovative staff, capable of executing the short and long term goals and objectives of the enterprise. Meet expectations for managing/supervising staff.

Position Requirements

EDUCATION
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent of 8 years’ experience in service or manufacturing industries in a risk management capacity (safety, property/casualty occupation) with collegiate level courses/certifications in safety, risk management or law.

EXPERIENCE
Minimum of 12 years’ experience in a leadership position in risk management or equivalent experience in a technical/administrative position developing risk programs, presenting education programs, performing HSE audits and regulatory liaison or examining/adjusting loss claims.

 

 
Gaming License Must obtain and maintain a gaming license.
