Food Program Assistant
Definition and Purpose
The Food Program Assistant is full time, benefited position working with a Federal and State funded Child Care Food Program (CCFP) and is under the direct supervision of the Food Program Supervisor. It is the role of the Food Program Assistant to assist the Food Program Manager in daily planning, preparation, service, clean up and record keeping in the center's food program.
Education Requirements and Qualifying Experiences
Educational/License/Credential Requirements
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
Experience Requirements
- Minimum one (1) year experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the essential functions of the job.
Educational and Qualifying Experience, Skills, Licenses, Credentials
- One year experience in nutritional meal planning, meal preparation
- Must possess a basic understanding of the nutritional requirements for children under the age of 5 years.
- Knowledge of Windows-based computer systems including Microsoft Office and Outlook.
- Tuberculosis test and physical examination
- Pass fingerprint clearance through the Department of Justice.
- Current infant/toddler/children's CPR, First Aid and fifteen hours of Health and Safety Training
- Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate knowledge to others.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds and stand on feet for extended period of time
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Supervise, train and monitor work flow of the food program student assistants in coordination with the Food Program Supervisor.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Nutrition Management
- Assist in developing a nutrition plan that meets all Federal Child Care Food Program (CCFP) and Center nutritional standards.
- Assistant in the preparation of food and substitutions.
- Routine cleaning and maintenance of all food program-related equipment and the service area.
- Responsible for food purchases and restocking supplies as needed.
- Responsible for classroom delivery and pick up.
- Assist in maintenance of itemized records of all food program expenses.
- Assist in reporting and record keeping.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
- Continue professional growth
- Generate daily production worksheets utilizing computer program
- Attend staff meetings, quarterly staff training workshops and other periodic training opportunities as required
- Participate in the overall ASI assessment planning and goal setting as appropriate
- Other duties as assigned.
Background Check
This position is subject to a background check (including criminal records) as well as National Address Locater (Social Security Number [SSN] Trace), 7 year County Criminal Search in each county and/or state the applicant lived in based on the SSN Trace, National Criminal Database Search, Name Search, Employment Verification (All employers in past 7 years) and Education Verification (Highest Degree). Credit Reports, Motor Vehicle Record Check and Professional License Verification may also be required based upon the essential functions of the position.
