This belief is reflected in the school’s motto, “Mind the Light.”   Description George School, a co-ed, 9-12, Quaker boarding/day school located in Newtown, Bucks County, PA, seeks a full time music teacher in its Arts Department beginning August 2017.   Position Requirements The responsibilities of the position cover both instrumental and vocal music in addition to including elements of music history, theory and composition. Courses of instruction are: Instrumental Ensembles; Vocal Ensemble; and IB Music Seminar. In addition, the person in this position will be responsible for hiring and supervising instructors in our private music lesson program. During one term each year, this individual may serve as the Music Director for the school’s Musical Theater class, collaborating with the show’s director. Qualifications for application include at least a B.A. in Music (master’s level degree preferred), proficiency in piano, experience teaching both instrumental and vocal music, and ensemble conducting experience. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for music, effective classroom management skills with a knowledge of how to assess and grade students’ progress, the ability to develop educational programming, and a willingness to work with other teachers across disciplines.
