Visit our website at www.grandrapidschair.com/careers for more details.   Description SUMMARY Utilizing existing tools and agreed upon methodologies, the Supply Chain Manager is responsible for all phases of materials procurement. Prepares operating schedules to ensure shipping date attainments and quality specifications. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Implement a fully functional supply chain management/production control Infrastructure. Coordinates distribution of all stock work orders to the manufacturing plant. Coordinates supply chain development. Responsible for supplier quality performance (on-time shipping, product quality, etc) Negotiates contracts with vendors to achieve cost and service that is in the best interest of the company. Coordinates and approves daily materials procurement. Ensures company turns are maintained according to expectations. Provides back up support to the Buyer during peak production season. Instrumental in exploring cost reduction opportunities; continually analyzes make/buy decisions, resourcing opportunities, etc. Works closely with engineers and executives when necessary Instrumental in providing cost savings on large purchase direct or manufacturing direct scenarios Works closely with Master Planner, Customer Service, Executives, and manufacturing team as needed. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Manages and directs the Buyers; Planner; Scheduler and Inventory Control Clerk. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Working with Human Resource Manager, responsibilities include safety, interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.   Position Requirements Education and/or Experience Bachelor’s Degree in business or supply chain-related study; 5 – 10 years of related work experience (contract furniture experience is preferred) or equivalent combined experience and education.
