General Motors Customer Care and Aftersales Parts Distribution Center in Charlotte, NC has a need for qualified Mechanical Journeypersons (e.g., machine repair). Working under minimal supervision with a high level of independent judgment and problem solving, the Mechanical Journeyperson is responsible for maintaining production and quality by ensuring operation of industrial machinery and mechanical equipment. The Mechanical Journeyperson needs to be flexible enough to take on multiple job assignments in a shift and be skilled at priority setting.
Follow established safety procedures according to OSHA standards and company procedures
Perform minor repairs and preventative maintenance tasks on mobile equipment
Perform general maintenance of HVAC/EMS systems (belts / pulleys / filters)
Perform minor plumbing and carpenter work
Fabricate, drill, weld, cut, and bolt to install, maintain, dismantle, repair, or replace mechanical components (e.g., bearings, seals, details, carriers) on industrial machinery
Operate mobile equipment (e.g., forklifts, vertical lifts, cranes)
Determine loading requirements to rig equipment and material for lifting
Maintenance of dock plates door and related equipment
Maintenance of material storage rack systems.
Maintenance of material carts
Perform safety inspections (e.g., stairs, ladders, jack stands)
Use computerized maintenance management system(s)
Interested individuals must meet the following minimum qualifications:
U.S. Department of Labor Completion of Apprenticeship Certificate in a Mechanical trade (millwright, pipefitter, toolmaker, machine repair) or six (6) years of documented experience in a Mechanical trade (notarized documentation required)
Able to work any shift and work some overtime including daily, weekend, and holidays
Applicants must be:

Willing to submit to a drug test and background check.
