This is a Location Hire Only: Normandie, WIC Center

In accordance with Federal, State, and the Public Health Foundation Enterprises policies and procedures, assists in WIC Center operations such as providing client nutrition education and information, support groups, certifying WIC eligible clients and related WIC MIS, performing office duties, complying with breastfeeding policies and requirements to promote, educate and support breastfeeding among all clients and staff.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

5% Provides WIC orientation for new participants.

17% Presents appropriate nutrition education for individuals and groups.

46% Screen all participants for counseling, certify low risk WIC participants, and determine the appropriate WIC food instruments to be provided using WIC MIS.

2% Assists in upkeep of WIC facilities.

4% Performs office and center activities necessary to facilitate the smooth running of the WIC center.

1% Works in other WIC centers, as needed.

2% Attends all required WIC sponsored training modules, meetings and seminars.

5% Participates in special projects and WIC outreach activities.

1% Transports supplies and staff as needed.

10% Provides breastfeeding support to all WIC pregnant and postpartum women as needed.

2% May be required to assume responsibility for center function in the absence of the supervisors and nutritionists.

5% Contacts WIC participants using the Call Tracking System (CaTS).

The employee must have the ability to work cooperatively an succesfully in a team setting take care of both internal and external customers; and deal with challenging situations involving the public and/or staff.

    • High School diploma general education degree (GED)
    • One year continuous experience in a customer service field and/or a Bachelor's Degree in a related field.


    • Excellent English verbal skills
    • Ability to read and understand instructions, correspondence and memos.
    • Clearly and concisely expressed information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
    • Exhibits good listening and comprehension.
    • Processes voicemail and email in a timely manner
    • Keeps supervisors and co-workers adequately informed.
    • Ability to attend to detail and follow-up.
    • Ability to maintain positive work atmosphere by communicating in a timely manner that promotes understanding and cooperation with clients, customers, co-workers, and supervisors.
    • Ability to maintain customer and employee confidence and to protect WIC operations by keeping information confidential.
    • Follows PHFE WIC policies and procedures and supports PHFE WIC’s goals and values
    • Follows instructions and responds to management direction.


    • Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations.


    • Ability to use PHFE WIC internal computer applications and other software products as needed to perform jobs tasks.


    • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
    • Ability to problem solve while dealing with the demands of the job
    • Ability to deal with unresolved situations, frequent change, delays, or unexpected events.
    • Ability to attend to detail and follow-up.


    • Must have the legal right to work in the United States
    • Must be able to secure timely transportation to fulfill the requirements of the essential job duties for this position (e.g. floating to other WIC Centers, training modules, seminars, meetings, outreach, main office and transporting supplies).
    • Must have one of the following available to them: Home telephone, message phone, or pager. All numbers must be current.
