Based at Taliesin in Spring Green, Wisconsin, the Facilities Technician assists with a variety of maintenance duties on the historic Taliesin estate and at the Frank Lloyd Wright Visitor Center. The Facilities Technician adheres to safety and established systems and processes in support of Foundation departments, Taliesin Preservation, the Frank Lloyd Wright School of Architecture, and the Taliesin Fellowship.

Essential Functions:

  • Assists with the day-to-day preservation and maintenance of facilities as directed by supervisor.

  • Uses a variety of hand and power tools to perform maintenance work within multiple maintenance trades.

  • As directed by supervisor, assists students with construction projects and student work in the shop.

  • Reports need for equipment repairs and equipment replacement.

  • Assists with emergency and unscheduled repairs site-wide as needed or directed by supervisor.

  • Works on assignments requiring judgment and initiative to resolve problems and make recommendations.

  • Reads and interprets equipment manuals to perform required maintenance and service and understands standard operating procedures (SOPs) as required to perform duties.

  • Other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Any combination of training or experience relevant to the performance of the position.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Able to report to work in a timely manner and adhere to scheduled shifts.
  • Commitment to excellence and high standards.
  • Able to manage priorities and workflow.
  • Able to work as a member of a team as well as with minimal supervision.
  • Able to determine the proper tools and equipment needed to perform job correctly.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Six months’ experience in a housekeeping or janitorial position.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and use up to an 8-foot ladder. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Work environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. The conditions include but are not limited to cold, high heat, sun exposure, working in rain/wet conditions, working in windy conditions, etc. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Salary Hourly rate of $14.00 for Monday-Friday shift, plus benefits including group medical, dental, vision, short-term and long-term disability, long-term care, paid time off and holidays; 401(k) with match after one year of service; and the intangible benefit of working at a National Historic Landmark that was Frank Lloyd Wright's summer home and studio.
