PART-TIME 7 MONTH TEMPORARY POSITION (80 HOURS PER MONTH)

(Projected for Mid-May or June through December 2017, with the potential for the position to be extended, depending on funding and job performance)

General Description

The National Coordinator has the duty of coordinating the activities of the Framework for Dialogue (FFD) between Religious Leaders and People Living with HIV (PLWH) in the United States in consultation with the project manager and the FFD National Coordinating Committee.

The National Coordinator works to ensure:

  • progress toward the realization of the Framework for Dialogue’s goals and objectives

  • established priorities, budget parameters, and timelines are being honored;

 

The National Coordinator interacts and creates liaison with people living with HIV, religious leaders, People Living with HIV Stigma Index leaders, houses of worship, research partners, funders, community agencies and related individual and organizations in order to promote and realize program objectives.

 

The People Living with HIV Stigma Index provides a tool that measures and detects changing trends in relation to stigma and discrimination experienced by people living with HIV. In the initiative, the process is just as important as the product. It aims to address stigma relating to HIV while also advocating on the key barriers and issues perpetuating stigma - a key obstacle to HIV treatment, prevention, care and support. www.stigmaindex.org

 

The Framework for Dialogue is a tool to engage faith leaders and persons living with HIV in a dialogue leading to joint action to reduce and eliminate HIV related stigma.  www.frameworkfordialogue.org

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordinate, monitor and evaluate the activities of the FFD.
  • Convene regular meetings, and as needed, of the FFD National Coordinating Committee.
  • Work with local/regional religious leaders, PLWH and related individuals and organizations, including the PLWH Stigma Index and the U.S. People Living with HIV Caucus (HIV Caucus)  to create local/regional planning teams for implementing the FFD where the Stigma Index is being done.
  • Provide technical support and assistance to the local/regional FFD coordinators and planning teams.
  • Develop program work plans and timelines in accordance with program goals and objectives.
  • Oversee every day operations and coordination of the activities of the program.
  • Coordinate activities of the program, ensuring optimum efficiency and also complying with all applicable policies, procedures and laws.
  • Assist the Project Manager to prepare grant proposals for funding of the FFD.
  • Work to promote and create awareness of the FFD, its mission and activities.
  • Develop, compile and write communications for the distribution like that of social media, web site content, newsletters, flyers etc.
  • Develop and facilitate presentations and workshops regarding the purpose, work, learnings and outcomes of the FFD in the U.S.
 
Position Requirements
  • A combination of education and lived experience that is relevant to the responsibilities of the position.

  • Evidence of experience in program management and coordination

  • Great organizational skills and responsible individual

  • Good team work and leadership skills, able to motivate and engage people

  • Availability to work during normal daytime business hours

  • Availability and willingness to travel

  • Ability to work effectively:

    • with diverse religious leaders from diverse religious traditions and practices

    • with people who have experienced HIV-related stigma

    • in the tensions of disagreement and lower levels of conflict

    • national and regional partners in different parts of the U.S.

  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and writing, social media skills are a plus

  • Good time management, multitasking and stress management skills

  • Knowledge of HIV and stigma

  • Knowledge of budgeting and basic accounting principles

  • Ability to maintain good relationships with co-workers and persons engaged with the FFD

  • Ability to provide technical advice wherever required
