Description

Based at Taliesin in Spring Green, Wisconsin, the part-time Weekend Custodian performs a variety of cleaning duties on the Taliesin estate and Frank Lloyd Wright Visitor Center to ensure clean, orderly, and attractive conditions as specified by the Facilities Manager. Assists with guest room preparations and maintenance tasks as needed.

Essential Functions:

  • Performs daily tasks as outlined in custodial checklists and /or performs tasks as directed by Facilities Manager or designee.
  • Cleans offices, hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, classrooms, corridors, stairways, and all other public and work areas on the Taliesin estate and at the Frank Lloyd Wright Visitor Center.
  • Sweeps, scrubs, waxes, and/or polishes floors using brooms, mops, or other applicable tools.
  • Empties wastebaskets, and transports trash and recycling to disposal area.
  • Dusts and polishes furniture, fixtures, and equipment as needed.
  • Cleans rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and/or draperies with vacuum cleaners and/or shampooers as directed.
  • Maintains inventory of products and supplies and provide resupply orders as needed.
  • Communicates need for major repairs or additions to lighting.
  • Responds in a timely fashion to emergency housekeeping requests.
  • Safely operates Foundation vehicles as needed to perform essential functions of position.
  • May assist with guest room preparations by doing laundry, cleaning guest rooms, making beds, etc.
  • Assists Facilities staff with duties as directed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
 
Position Requirements
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Any combination of training or experience relevant to the performance of the position.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Able to report to work in a timely manner and adhere to scheduled shifts.
  • Committed to excellence and high standards.
  • Able to manage priorities and workflow.
  • Able to work as a member of a team as well as with minimal supervision.
  • Able to determine the proper tools and equipment needed to perform job correctly.
  • Flexible and willing to work within constantly changing priorities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Six months’ experience in a housekeeping or janitorial position.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and use up to an 8-foot ladder. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Work environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. The conditions include but are not limited to cold, high heat, sun exposure, working in rain/wet conditions, working in windy conditions, etc.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
 
Salary $11/hour up to 20 hours/week.
