Description

Responsible for overseeing the operations of the employee medical, prescription drug, dental, vision, and COBRA plans, and other healthcare-related benefits plans/programs. Assists in the development of healthcare benefits strategic initiatives that support Paychex' Corporate Benefits strategy and achievement of overall business goals as approved by the Director of Benefits.

  • Manages administration of employee healthcare benefit programs including: Dental, Medical, Pharmacy, Vision, Qualified Life Events/Status Changes, Section 125 and related benefits programs and policies for Paychex. Researches, recommends, and implements changes to programs for annual review. Maintains knowledge of all Corporate Healthcare benefit programs; Advises and counsels management and employees on existing benefit policies and practices; Assists with the design, development, and implementation of new employee benefit policies and plans; Assists with audits of benefit plan programs as needed to maintain compliance; Responds promptly to staff and general employee questions.
  • Manages a staff of benefits employees and is responsible for all aspects of personnel management including: hiring, performance appraisals, promotions, staff development, salary increases, discipline, training and development, and process control to ensure consistent departmental procedures and processes are administered. Monitors the group’s work flows using key indicators and staffs appropriately to ensure deadlines, accuracy requirements, and departmental objectives are met.
  • Participates in the bidding process to select Paychex healthcare benefit vendor partners. Manages vendor partner renewals. Oversees payment of premiums, claims, and administrative fees. Establishes and maintains a strong working relationship with Paychex healthcare benefits vendor partners in order to ensure work processes are effective and efficient.
  • Participates in formulating the Corporate Fringe Budget. Assists the Director in determining expenditure priorities and justifying capital equipment in order to support the attainment of department expense goals.
  • Writes, edits, reviews and maintains healthcare benefit documentation used by vendors, employees and other internal groups.
  • Remains current on legislative changes concerning healthcare benefits that may impact benefit administration.
  • Key player in the planning and execution of the annual benefits open enrollment. Assists with special benefits projects to support the overall operation of the Benefits Department. Member of Mergers and Acquisitions team to facilitate integration into the Paychex benefit plans.
  • Ensures quality of data integrity and records retention for the healthcare benefits in order to provide accurate information used by other internal departments.
  • Establishes and maintains strong working relationship with internal Payroll and Legal departments in order to ensure work process are streamlined. Develops process improvements and contributes to the creation and update of department standards, processes and procedures to ensure work processes are streamlined.
 
Position Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or Finance.
  • Master's Degree in Human Resources or Business Administration.
  • 5 years of experience in Benefits administration experience.
  • Experience supporting multi-site, multi-state organization and payroll administration.
  • 3 years of experience in Management.
