Description

Summary:

Sustainment Automation Support Management Office (SASMO) Instructors train officers, warrant officers, enlisted and civilian personnel to operate SASMO systems. SASMO Instructors use a hands-on approach for training systems support personnel to allow oversight, support, troubleshooting, and network management for the full range of logistics automation systems fielded throughout the Army. Instructors guide hands-on activities using actual LIS hardware and software currently in use or being fielded throughout the Army.

Specific duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • SASMO Instructors. SASMO Instructors work in two-instructor teams, teaching the month-long SASMO course up to 11 times per year, with up to 20 students per course. The normal workday is an eight-hour period between 0800 hours and 1700 hours (local, including one hour lunch), Monday through Friday.

  • Instructor teams present and maintain training in accordance with current hardware and software applications and troubleshooting procedures. Instructors present training in accordance with the current program of instruction (POI) including all subcomponents of the POI such as lesson plans or the individual student assessment plan, the current Army Logistics University (ALU) standing operating procedures (SOP) and student handbook.

  • SASMO Instructors provide qualified instruction in systems support and the use of applicable automated job-performance aids. As a SASMO Instructor, you will guide students in the development of solutions to individual and group exercises/cases studied while ensuring that the students have attained the course learning objectives. You will teach students how to perform as functional logistics automation system maintainers and network administrators at the brigade support battalions (combat brigade teams), the combat sustainment support battalions (sustainment brigades), designated mission command division or Corps G4, the expeditionary sustainment commands, and the theatre sustainment commands.

  • Instructors must be functionally capable and current in all topics assigned within the courses and are responsible for all assigned instructional and administrative tasks.

  • SASMO Instructor teams conduct courses in the contiguous United States and abroad. Training sites may include but are not limited to: Fort Bragg, Fort Hood, Fort Richardson, Fort Carson, Fort Benning, Fort Riley, Fort McCoy, Camp Robinson Arkansas, Germany, Hawaii, or the Republic of Korea. Temporary travel may be required to other than the assigned work location.

  • Instructor teams may be required to work a variety of schedules to accommodate equipment maintenance, classroom maintenance or training requirements. Weekend, shift work and other hours required outside the normal 0800-1700 hours may be required.

Required Qualifications:

  • Graduate of SASMO Course 9E-ASIN8/920-ASIN8 or have the ability to successfully complete the SASMO course at the next available course start date.

  • At least four years’ experience with Army medical and logistics information systems

  • At least one year primary instructor experience

  • Experience operating, teaching and troubleshooting each of the systems1 included in the SASMO program of instruction (listed below) within the last 3 years.

    • GCSS-Army client workstation and hand held terminals

    • Medical Communications for Combat Casualty Care (MC4) version 2200 or later.

    • Transportation Coordinators Automated Information for Movement System II (TC-AIMS II)

    • Standard Army Ammunition System Modified (SAAS-Mod)

    • Unit Level Logistics System-Aviation (Enhanced) (ULLS-A) (E)

  • Work experience must include one year of on-the-job experience with a military training activity or school in the related discipline
  • Proficient with MS office computer programs
  • Knowledgeable of all applicable regulations and doctrine regarding military training
  • Prior instructor/OC-T experience

Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree in related discipline is desirable
