AB Mauri Fleischmann’s is seeking an Expediter to be located in its Memphis, TN plant.  The Expediter will verify and maintain records on outgoing product shipments,  prepare product for shipment, verify material receipts and maintain receiving records and load, unload, and move materials throughout the plant.


Shipping & Receiving - Count, weigh and measure outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading.  Ensure that yeast shipments are correctly loaded onto the proper trucks.  Affix shipping labels and instructions onto packages.  Operate forklift and use hand truck to move, convey, or hoist shipments from storage or work area to trucks.  Maintain the storage and identification of inbound factory goods in the plant warehouse.  Interface with Customer Service and develop and maintain excellent rapport with drivers and vendors.  Unload railcars and barges.  Unpack and inspect incoming shipments, reject damaged items and record shortages/overages. 

Production - Assemble wooden and cardboard containers.   Open and close containers.  Load and unload materials onto or off of pallets, trays, racks, and shelves by hand.  Convey materials from storage or work sites to designated area.  Secure lifting attachments to materials, convey loads to destination, signal crane or hoisting operators to move loads to destination.  Attach identifying tags, marks or labels to containers.  Route items to proper departments.  Stack and assemble materials.  Lift heavy objects by hand or with a power hoist.   Clean work area, machines, and equipment to assist machine operators.  Shovel loose materials such as sand, gravel, metals, plastics, or chemicals into machine hoppers or vehicles and containers.  Operate floor scrubber to clean aisles and work areas.  Sweep and mop floors.  Operate pressure washer to clean tanks, dikes, and plant exterior and interior.  Provide packaging department with necessary tools and equipment. Track materials and finished goods inventory.

Reporting - Maintain shipping materials, supplies, and pallets inventory.  Post daily receipts of raw materials and other purchased.  Record lot numbers of packaging materials set in the packaging staging area.

Quality - Remove samples of materials, label with identifying information, and take samples to laboratory for analysis.  Sample railcars, cola trucks, and barges, labeling samples with proper information.  Maintain the department Master Sanitation Schedule.  Adhere to the plant Good Manufacturing Practice and HACCP programs.

Position Requirements

We are seeking candidates with a combination if the following skills and knowledge:  High school diploma or general education degree (GED).  One to two years’ related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Ability to operate specific computer software and related hardware.  Forklift operator’s license.  Demonstrates basic math skills.  Experience in the food processing or pharmaceutical industries.  Ability to operate a shrink-wrap machine.  Ability to operate an IBM AS/400 mainframe computer.  Ability to handle multiple tasks under pressure.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works neat moving mechanical parts, in high places, in outside weather conditions, and with hazardous materials and vibration.  The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and /or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, extreme cold, extreme heat, and risk of electrical shock.
