Preservation and Foundation Programs Intern 


The Academy is seeking an enthusiastic individual to serve as an intern in the Department of Preservation and Foundation Programs.
While the duties of this position include basic administrative support -- typing, answering phones, filing, etc. -- the successful candidate will also have the opportunity to sit in on regular programming, film archive and library meetings with the Managing Director of Preservation and Foundation Programs and his staff, provide research on a wide variety of film-related projects, as well as assist with the organization of upcoming Academy programs and special events.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Provides administrative support to the Managing Director of Preservation and Foundation Programs and his staff, assisting with various clerical duties and projects: answering phones, greeting guests, sorting mail and replying to general phone, mail, or e-mail requests; filing; photocopying.
• Assembles research on a wide variety of film-related projects and maintains project files.
• Assists with the organization of upcoming Academy programs and special events.

Position Requirements

•Interest in programming, motion picture history, production techniques, preservation and library procedures, educational curriculum requirements and/or Academy protocol preferred.
•Must be detail oriented and able to work on multiple projects in fast-paced environment.
•Excellent organizational and clerical skills, detail oriented, organized and with demonstrated high level of computer expertise and experience, especially with E-mail, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, FileMaker Pro, the Internet and other administrative computer software.
•Outstanding communication skills a must, including fluency in English and highly-professional verbal and written communication with special attention to detail and accuracy.
•Outstanding research skills a must.
•Excellent interpersonal skills essential, with the aptitude to handle a variety of people, personalities, and situations with diplomacy, discretion and poise.
•Ability to work cooperatively with other Academy departments.
•Ability to work professionally and gracefully with Academy members and the public.
