Job Summary

The intern will see daily back-of-the-house operations of the ballpark by observing the Senior Director, Security & Contract Services, the Manager of Security / Service Operations and the Guest Relations Manager on both non-game days and game days. The intern will be expected to participate in game-related duties, in order to fully understand the successful execution of back-of-the-house and front line procedures / staffing necessary to operate a professional sports facility.

Responsibilities

Primary:

  • Coordinate with Human Resources in preparing for game day employee interviews and call-backs for new hires.
  • Assist in preparing for Grand Slam Training sessions and employee orientation by compiling materials, setting up the training room and scheduling employees for each session.
  • Conduct inventories in the following areas, as necessary: radios and accessories, including labeling and assisting with distribution; storage areas; equipment and others. Organize and maintain necessary supplies in game day manager’s office.
  • Schedule employees to work supplemental events and assist with set-up of supplemental events, as necessary.
  • Update the Emergency Response Plan.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Sr. Director or Manager.

Secondary:

  • Coordinate taking photos of all game day employees for annual yearbook.
  • Perform ballpark walk-through’s, conducting checklists for various cleaning and maintenance related issues.
  • Assist managers with daily game day staff briefings.
  • Attend Homestand Meetings, Supplemental Event Meetings and other sessions in the areas listed above, as necessary.
 
Position Requirements

Required:

  • Candidates must be enrolled in an accredited institution and be junior, senior or graduate level.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft applications and adaptability to new software.

Desired:

  • Candidates majoring in event / facilities management or sports management or related field.
  • Customer service experience helpful.
