Description

Provides quality phone technical support for all inbound Internet customers on all HTC Internet service offerings.  Troubleshoots and properly researches all Internet customer issues, properly logs customer issues regarding HTC provided equipment along with customer owned equipment that allows access to the Internet in an effort to reduce time to repair.  Assists other departments and escalates trouble calls to the appropriate department or personnel.  Assists in the daily operations of HTC Internet service i.e. cutting and reconnecting services, SPAM/abuse notifications, responding to customer inquiries via phone and email, resolving customer  billing questions, researching account adjustments, etc.  Assists in other areas of the Plant Operations Department as needed.  Performs other duties as assigned in order to meet the overall objectives of the department.

 
Position Requirements

Experience:  Minimum of one to three years related experience and/or training is required.  Individual must have experience with troubleshooting wired and wireless routers, modems, and other internet devices.  Associate's degree in related field or equivalent from two-year college or technical school preferred.

Job Knowledge:  High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required.  Must have intermediate personal computer skills, including electronic mail, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.  Must have working knowledge of the following operating systems: Windows and MAC OS.  MS Products including Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet Explorer, Outlook Express; SOS; SRS; Ceridian; NetCracker and OSP.  Intermediate networking knowledge of broadband routers to DSL/Cable modems including wired and wireless devices.

Physical Demands:  Must be able to stand, walk, sit, use hands and fingers, reach with arms and hands, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, talk or hear, and lift up to 25 pounds.  Vision Requirements: Close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less).  Working Conditions: Well-lighted, heated and/or air-conditioned indoor office setting with adequate ventilation with moderate noise (examples: business office with computers and printers, light traffic).  May work near moving mechanical parts and risk of electric shock.  Light physical activity performing non-strenuous daily activities of a technical nature.

Special Demands:  Must comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures. Reports all unsafe activities to management and/or Human Resources.  Participates in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental, interdepartmental and corporate goals.   Performs other duties as assigned.   Prioritizes and handles multiple tasks simultaneously.  Minimal overnight travel (up to 10%) by land and/or air.  Regular – Work schedule requirements are usually consistent from week to week.  Handles and maintains confidential and/or sensitive information.
