Museum Development Intern 

Description

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences invites applications from college students who have a career interest in nonprofit/fundraising or public administration for a part-time Development Intern position. This position will work under the direct supervision of the Director, Foundation and Government Relations and in support of other staff members.

The Museum Development Intern will assist with researching and identifying potential new donors, processing gifts and donor correspondence, researching content for grant applications, data entry, preparing fund raising reports, managing phones and assisting with events and projects as assigned. The position requires a person with a high work capacity and a willingness to take initiative and approach all tasks with a positive outlook. The successful candidate will be organized, detail-oriented, multi-tasker who is not easily flustered and is able to maintain a pleasant demeanor. The ability to function efficiently as part of the team is of primary importance.

 
Position Requirements
  • Current enrollment in a college-level degree program studying arts or nonprofit management, public administration, film history, art history, or a directly-related field.
  • Outstanding organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to take direction, manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Strong sense of initiative and willingness to take ownership of both small and large projects
  • Strong research, writing and proofreading skills, as well as verbal and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work 16-28 hours per week
  • Experience using basic office equipment
  • PC proficiency and working knowledge of Microsoft Office software, particularly Word, Excel, and various internet search engines
  • Strong interest in nonprofit, especially development (fundraising) required
  • Experience with Altru, Raiser’s Edge, or Wealth Engine a plus
  • Nonprofit experience (other internships and/or volunteer work) experience preferred.
