Assistant Coordinator- Information Technology (User Support)

Definition and Purpose

Under the direct supervision of the Coordinator – Information Technology, the Assistant Coordinator- Information Technology (User Support) is responsible for the coordination of technical systems support in a large network environment.  This includes the installation, maintenance, modification and repair of computer equipment, software, and networking systems.  The position serves a technical support role for hardware and software and coordination of support staff to achieve the strategic and operational goals of the Information Technology department.

Additionally, all ASI employees are responsible for upholding the core values of the organization  including but not limited to exhibiting professional behavior, acting as a role model to others, displaying a positive and cooperative attitude, communicating effectively, developing expert knowledge in area of specialization, and working together as a team.

 

Knowledge/Skill Requirements

  • Working knowledge of correct English grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
  • General knowledge of office methods, equipment, procedures, and practices.
  • Knowledge of Windows-based computer systems.
  • Ability to effectively communicate both orally and written; strong public speaking ability.
  • Ability to establish and maintain a cooperative working relationship with staff, students, faculty and others.
  • Demonstrated skills in group supervision/leadership.
  • Ability to gather and analyze complex data and situations in order to draw valid conclusions and make appropriate recommendations.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to coordinate multiple projects and meet deadlines.

  • Working knowledge and understanding of financial record-keeping methods, procedures and practice.

  • Strong hardware and software troubleshooting skills.
  • Understanding of PC and network hardware and software, information processing systems, computer operations, a wide range of software applications, and end-user training.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a team of technical staff and work collaboratively to meet project and organizational goals.
  • Ability to apply consultative skills to assess user needs and provide appropriate support.
  • Strong desire to learn new technology and develop skills consistent with departmental objectives.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the day-to-day user support operations including coordination of resources to accomplish department goals.
  • Serve as primary contact for all incoming end-user support calls.
  • Ensure consistent, excellent customer support to end-users.
  • Utilize customer feedback to provide improved and customized service.
  • Maintain security of all data and equipment.
  • Maintain operations, software, hardware, and network documentation.
  • Provide end-user support and training.
  • Project scheduling for the deployment of new systems.
  • Maintain hardware and software.
  • Maintain helpdesk and asset management software to keep track of all incoming work orders and maintain asset integrity.
  • Provide primary support for email server and backup support for all other server functions.
  • Plan, document, and communicate all software implementations and upgrades.

Assessment

  • Develop and execute assessment of programs and/or services for areas of responsibility including, but not limited to, setting and implementing goals, evaluating outcomes, and ongoing enhancement.
  • Participate in the overall ASI assessment planning and goal setting.

Other Duties and Responsibilities

  • Represent ASI on committees as appropriate.
  • Attend and participate in meetings as necessary.
  • Ensure continuous professional development.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Background Check

This position is subject to a background check (including criminal records) as well as National Address Locater (Social Security Number [SSN] Trace), 7 year County Criminal Search in each county and/or state the applicant lived in based on the SSN Trace, National Criminal Database Search, Name Search, Employment Verification (All employers in past 7 years) and Education Verification (Highest Degree). Credit Reports, Motor Vehicle Record Check and Professional License Verification may also be required based upon the essential functions of the position.

Educational/License/Credential Requirements

  • Graduation from a four-year college or university (8 years applicable experience may be substituted for educational requirement).

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum three (3) years experience, five (5) years preferred that demonstrates the ability to perform the essential functions of the position.
  • Minimum two (2) years experience working with PC and MAC hardware, Windows, Active Directory, and email servers.

This position may require sitting, standing, walking, bending over, crawling, climbing, reaching overhead, crouching, kneeling, balancing, pushing or pulling, lifting or carrying up to 50 pounds, and repetitive use of hands/arms.

This position may require driving company vehicles.

Environmental factors include working inside, outside, humid, hazards, change of temperature, dirty, dusty, noisy, working with others, working around others and working alone.
