Account Executive - Personal and Commercial Lines

Summary: Develops and maintains business relationships with clients.  Sells and services all insurance related products to existing and potential commercial customers and makes referrals to other Account Executives when appropriate by performing the following duties.  This position will be responsible for selling personal and commercial lines insurance products.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:  To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  Essential duties and responsibilities include the following:

  • Generates new business.
  • Responds to referrals.
  • Handles call-in and walk-in business.
  • Provides risk reviews for clients and prospects.
  • Presents proposals and follows up.
  • Completes all documentation required by carrier.
  • Collects insured’s signed application and deposit.
  • Enters application/account information into the agency management system, including delivery specifications.
  • Assists Account Manager and others with contacting clients as requested.
  • Maintains adequate coverage on all accounts.
  • Fulfills agency production goals with quality business.
  • Retains renewal business through client contact and meeting coverage needs.
  • Organizes communications from carriers or clients by either having the CSR cc’d on communications or attaching the communication into the agency management system.
  • Represents River Valley by referring various financial and insurance products to clients.
  • Establishes customer service differentiation by providing customers with documentation or access to Zywave and Modmaster.

Other Responsibilities:

Perform other related duties as required or assigned that are in the spirit of this job description and position as necessary for the Bank and the Department to function effectively.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This job has no supervisory responsibilities

Education/Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) plus a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or Sales; or more than five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have solid knowledge of Windows, Microsoft Office, Word Processing software; Spreadsheet software and Database software and the ability to become proficient in the use of the EPIC System.

Certificates and Licenses:

Must possess a valid MI Agent License and be willing to obtain other states, if applicable.
