Accounts Receivable / Collections Clerk

Description

Duties:

  • Communicate with customers on open credit issues

  • Document customer related communications in the company’s internal customer service system

  • Review account receivables aging schedule for collections purposes

  • Prepare accounts receivable allowance analysis and calculates adjustments

  • Respond promptly to customer inquiries for information and documentation requests on their accounts.

  • Responsible for direct communication with various department managers on an as needed basis regarding past due customers

  • Prepare collections letters and aging reports

  • Research rebate checks

  • Prepare, generate, and review various internal reports

  • Prepare debit and credit memos as required

  • Apply payments to accounts and reconciling customer accounts with the customers

  • Assist in the mailing of invoices and checks

  • Assist in setting up customers and making changes to customer accounts

  • Assist in compiling reports and recording information in various databases

  • Support accounting operations by filing documents, reconciling statements; running software programs

  • Other duties as assigned

Position Requirements

Requirements:

  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent

  • Must have 2-3 years of experience in an accounting position

  • Must have experience in accounts receivable and collections

  • Ability to follow oral and written directions to complete assigned tasks

  • Ability to utilize problem-solving techniques and to demonstrate analytical skills

  • Ability to multi-task and work well with others

  • Must have excellent communication skills

  • Ability to investigate and document customer issues

  • Proficiency with Word, Excel and Outlook (or similar email software application)

  • The position requires accuracy, persistence and attention to detail

  • Must maintain regular attendance and punctuality

  • Must be able to sit for extended periods of time

  • Must be able to lift up to 10 lbs
