You will be eligible to work on the portions of the Smarter Balanced project that fit your qualifications and schedule in March, April, and May. This project requires readers to score brief writing samples for content, organization, grammatical conventions, and/or the student’s ability to respond to specific items in Reading, Research, and Math. The tests you will score come from many different states and from students at grade levels 3–8 and 11. Disclaimer: Returning a completed reapplication will not guarantee a position. Selection of Reader/Evaluators is based on prior experience as well as performance (accuracy and productivity), attendance/punctuality, and appropriate conduct during previous projects. However, all experienced readers in good standing expressing interest in returning will be considered for the upcoming projects. Work Hours/Shifts Shifts are available between 8:30 a.m. and 1 a.m. ET. Morning and afternoon shifts are in 3.5-hour blocks (you may choose to work one or both). Evening shift is a 4-hour block. Hours can be modified to accommodate busy teachers; however, all scoring is supervised and therefore needs to be completed within the hours when scoring leadership is present. Pay Information Beginning pay: $12.95 per hour (In some states, a limited number of educators who are currently teaching are eligible for higher pay and modified hours. Please contact us for more information.) Increases are based on experience and proven performance. If hired, you will be asked to register in our payroll system and set up direct deposit if you have a bank account. Payments are made every other Friday for the preceding two-week pay period.
