About the Organization Red Oak Recovery, a CARF accredited program, is a premier clinically-driven therapy program for young adults and adolescents. We are here to serve clients, families, and other stakeholders through a very difficult time. Our team provides gender-specific treatment for young adults ages 18-30, and adolescent males 14-17 struggling with substance abuse and co-occurring mental health issues. Our licensed and experienced staff provide the most clinically sophisticated and integrative substance abuse and mental health treatment available.

As a small clinically-driven program we have the ability to meet each client where they are mentally, spiritually, physically, and emotionally to design a treatment experience that is unique to them.

Description

Red Oak Recovery is located in the pristine Blue Ridge Mountains, just outside of Asheville NC. We specialize in the treatment of young adult males, ages 18-30, and are a clinically dynamic, trauma intensive substance abuse and mental health treatment program. The leadership team of Red Oak Recovery is made up of recognized experts in the field of mental health who specialize in the integration of wilderness and experiential therapy, substance abuse, trauma, and mental health treatment.

 

If you have a desire to work in the substance abuse recovery field and are passionate about helping young adults through their recovery process as you develop your skills with a thriving company, this is the role for you.

 

The applicant must be willing to work 8 consecutive days on shift followed by 6 days off. Housing is provided while on shift.

 

Role and Responsibilities:

 

  • Provide the highest level of physical and emotional safety to our clients
  • Manage client groups and help clients navigate their schedule which includes education, sports, meditation, adventure activities, yoga, and much more
  • Work as part of an integrative treatment team through learning and implementing compassionate clinical care
  • Empower clients to take responsibility for their actions
  • Promote and encourage clients to make healthy decisions through modeling healthy behavior and helping positively motivate clients
  • Teach a wide variety of coping strategies and emotional regulation skills to our clients
  • Facilitate therapeutic interventions, process groups, mindfulness sessions and educational groups
  • Lead clients on overnight adventure activities (hiking, camping, canoeing) while maintaining the highest level of physical and emotional safety for our clients

Position Requirements

Qualifications and Minimum Requirements:

 

  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Minimum HS diploma (or equivalent)
  • Current Adult CPR/Basic First Aid/AED certification (training provided)
  • Current Non-Violent Crisis Intervention certification (training provided)

 

Preferred Experience and Skills:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work or related mental health field
  • Strong communication and de-escalation skills
  • Personal and/or professional experience with 12 Step Recovery, Substance Abuse Treatment, Mental Health Treatment and/or Wilderness Therapy
  • Experience with managing groups in a residential or wilderness setting
  • Wilderness First Responder or higher medical certification
