Under the direction of the VP of HR, the Training and Development Specialist is responsible for the management, administration and facilitation of training for employees throughout the organization. This role is responsible for the record keeping and regulatory compliance management in cooperation with the HR department. The incumbent will facilitate, implement and measure training outcomes for employees at varying levels of the organization. The Training and Development Specialist will take ownership of all training programs and records associated with the company’s compliance within the state, Federal and health care related guidelines.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  2. Reinforce and positively engage in Opportunity Village’s organizational culture supporting choice and creativity of OVIPs (Opportunity Village Important People) and of staff.
  3. Conduct job specific training including but not limited to: new hire orientation, nonviolent crisis intervention training, abuse, neglect and exploitation prevention, job safety, HIPAA, etc.
  4. Liaison with vendors, managers and employee to coordinate trainings (CPR).
  5. Manage five organizational training days annually.
  6. Update, revise, and create training materials as needed to ensure company compliance.
  7. Support Human Resources by being an essential member of their department’s team.
  8. Perform administrative tasks such as monitoring costs, scheduling classes, setting up systems and equipment, and coordinating enrollment.
  9. Performs other duties as assigned.
 
Position Requirements

SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Ability to communicate effectively with individuals, co-workers and supervisors (verbal and written).
  • Must possess social perceptiveness to assess and understand other’s reactions and behaviors.
  • Technologically savvy; Microsoft Office, database management etc.
  • Proven ability to handle confidential information in a professional demeanor.
  • Polished public speaking ability for small and large groups.
  • Ability to think critically; define problems and draw valid conclusions.
  • Business acumen.
  • Time management and organizational planning.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Required: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Business Management, Human Services or related field. In lieu of degree, four years of related work experience is acceptable.
  • Required: Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and First Aid Certification or ability to supply certification within 30 days of hire.
  • Required: One to three years of training/facilitation, Human Resources or applicable work experience.
  • Required: Reliable transportation.
  • Preferred: Human Resources or Training certification.

  • Manual dexterity to operate office equipment and examine documents, records and files.
  • Ability to travel to various work site and work varied hours when needed.
