GMCH Rochester Operations has a need for qualified Mechanical Journeypersons (e.g., machine repair). Working under minimal supervision with a high level of independent judgment and problem solving, the Mechanical Journeyperson specializes in maintaining production and quality by ensuring operation of industrial machinery and mechanical equipment. The Mechanical Journeyperson needs to be flexible enough to take on multiple job assignments in a shift and be skilled at priority setting.
Machine Repair - PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Follow established safety procedures according to OSHA standards and company procedures
Fabricate, weld, maintain, dismantle, repair, or replace mechanical components (e. g. bearings, seals, details, carriers, etc.) on industrial machinery
Maintain, dismantle, repair, and replace mechanical and hydraulic components on industrial machinery such as CNC Grinders, injection mold machines, custom assembly automation, leak testers, screw machines, and gages.
Read and interpret blueprints for the mechanical operations and assembly of automation systems.
Operate mobile equipment (e. g. forklifts, vertical lifts)
Set up and operate conventional or computer numerically controlled (CNC) machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, and grinders to cut, bore, grind, or otherwise shape parts to prescribed dimensions and finishes
Fabricate punches, tools, steel rule tools and t-sets to exact specifications
Plan sequences of operations for fabricating tools or assemblies using blueprints, sketches, or models
Determine quality of finished products, ensuring defect-free parts, by verifying dimensions, alignment, and clearances for conformance to specifications using measuring instruments such as calipers, gauge blocks, micrometers, and dial indicators
Mold Repair - PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Fabricate weld, and maintain, dismantle, repair, or replace mechanical components on injection mold machines
Read and interpret blueprints for the mechanical operation and assembly of molds and associated tooling
Fabricate punches and tools to exact specifications
Able to work in tight, awkward spaces and lift 50 lb. mold components.
Determine loading requirements to rig equipment and molds.
