Description

The Tax Services Manager is responsible for leading the Tax Services team, delivering or exceeding SLAs, designing and executing strategies to be more effective and efficient, building a high performing team, working with colleagues in the Client Success organization and across the company, all in service to the goal of ensuring our clients are entirely satisfied with their experience with their Tax Services.  We hold service quality as a core value, and the Tax Services Manager will embody that value.

 

The qualified candidate has deep payroll taxation expertise. You have meaningful experience leading a team – you can select and develop great performers. The ideal candidate is highly detail- and process-oriented; you are metrics-oriented and you love to analyze how to improve efficiency and effectiveness, and you’re great at leading change. The ideal candidate is skilled at client communication, able to discuss complex taxation issues with beginners and experts alike. 

 

You handle difficult conversations with aplomb.  This is a player/coach role, so you’ll not only lead the team, but you’ll do some of the client-facing work yourself.  You’re a great colleague, and enjoy partnering across departments to ensure better outcomes for all parties.  Finally, you’re highly accountable.  The buck stops with you.

 

Responsibilities will include:

Team Management

  • Lead a team of 3 Tax Associates
  • Provide coaching and career development
  • Hold your team to the highest standards of delivering quality work on time or early
  • Foster a highly collaborative team environment
  • Report to executive leadership on activities, achievement of service level agreements

Process Management

  • Oversee day to day operations of the Tax team, ensuring that all work is complete in a timely manner and at a high quality standard
  • Own the quarter-end and year-end tax management processes
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes and policies, and drive execution thereof
  • Collaborate with the Product Management team on needed adjustments to the software
  • Own the relationship with our Tax Services partner

Client Management

  • Ensure that new Tax Service clients get off on the right foot
  • Ensure that clients find it easy and enjoyable to work with Tax Services
  • Work directly with clients on key and challenging issues, such as amendments and enquiries
  • Serve as the first point of escalation for any clients who are concerned about the quality of service provided by the Tax Services team
 
Position Requirements

Job Requirements: 

  • Experience in payroll taxation is required
  • Experience in leading a team is required
  • Customer service experience, preferably at a human capital management setting is strongly preferred
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, team environment
  • Strong oral and written businesses communication skills; ability to interact credibly with C-level audiences
  • Quick analysis, troubleshooting and problem resolution skills
  • Highly organized with exceptional follow through
