Job Title: Instructor  (non-certified)

Employment Status: Temporary Part-Time

Schedule: Monday through Friday, 2:30PM-6:00PM (varies by school)

Job Summary: Under limited supervision, and receiving general guidance and direction, uses skills obtained through experience and/or formal training to create and provide a safe, learning environment designed to engage students in academic, health and fitness, and enrichment activities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Implements instructional activities that contribute to a climate where students are actively engaged in meaningful learning experiences.

  • Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.

  • Identifies, selects, and modifies instructional resources to meet the needs of the students with varying backgrounds, learning styles, and special needs.

  • Assists in assessing changing curricular needs and offers plans for improvement.

  • Maintains effective and efficient record-keeping procedures.

  • Communicates effectively, both orally and in writing, with students, parents, and other professionals on a regular basis.

  • Collaborates with peers to enhance the instructional environment.

  • Models professional and ethical standards when dealing with students, parents, peers, and community.

  • Ensures that student growth and achievement is continuous and appropriate for age group, subject area, and/or program classification.

  • Assumes responsibility for meeting his/her course and school-wide student performance goals.

  • Demonstrates gains in student performance.

  • Meets professional obligations through efficient work habits such as: meeting deadlines, honoring schedules.

  • All work responsibilities are subject to having performance goals and/or targets established as part of the annual performance planning process or as the result of organizational planning.

  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by their supervisor.

 
Position Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of:

  • Educational processes and techniques attributed to age group of assigned functional area.

Skill in:

  • Operating standard office equipment and using required software applications including Microsoft Office and Google Docs.

Ability to:

  • Partner with other functional areas to accomplish objectives.
  • Incite enthusiasm and influence, motivate and persuade others to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Interpret and apply policies and identify and recommend changes as appropriate.
  • Organize, manage and track multiple detailed tasks and assignments with frequently changing priorities in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Handle stressful situations and provide a high level of customer service in a calm and professional manner.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships.

Educational/Previous Experience Requirements:

Minimum Degree Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree

Required Disciplines:

  • Elementary or Secondary Education, Child Guidance/Counseling or a related field

  • At least 2 years experience in an educational setting and/or any equivalent combination of experience, education, and/or training approved by Human Resources.

Licenses/Certifications:

Licenses/Certifications Required at Date of Hire:

  • none

Training Requirements:

  • 16 clock hours of training throughout the year
  • Blood borne Pathogens training

Working Conditions:

Hours:  Normal business hours.  Some additional hours may be required.

Travel Required: 0-5%

Working Environment:  Climate controlled environment.
