Nurse

Description

What are we looking for in a Nurse?

Nurses in our inpatient units collaborate with behavioral health treatment teams to provide integrated, evidence-based treatment to clients throughout their stay. Nurses work closely with clients to administer medications, to provide education about prescriptions and general health needs, and to develop a treatment plan that reflects the clients’ goals. When possible, nurses will also coordinate with clients’ families or social supports to help position clients for success upon discharge from our facilities. Our programs have adopted trauma-informed principles to client care, so the nursing process will similarly take a respectful, patient, client-centered approach. Continuing medical education and regular supervision are provided as part of this position.

We have positions available at each of our inpatient units in Yakima. Nurses working in these facilities enjoy a three-day work week with 12-hour shifts (7am-7:30pm or 7pm-7:30am), plus a full-time salary and comprehensive benefits package.

  • Competency Restoration Program: This is a twenty-four bed secure residential treatment program that serves male adults who have, due to a mental illness, been deemed by the court to be unable to aid and assist in court proceedings regarding current pending criminal charges. The goal of this program is to offer residents treatment and educational opportunities in order to prepare them to be able to fully aid and assist in their own defense. Services are provided by a multidisciplinary team with an emphasis on collaboration, and the program uses trauma-informed evidence-based practices that have been proven effective for education and treatment. Schedule (1 position): three 12-hour shifts with rotating days: 7pm-7:30am
  • Selah Evaluation & Treatment facility is our newest program, set to open April 2019. This new sixteen-bed, secure facility will serve adults who require short-term inpatient treatment due to a crisis or change in function related to mental illness. This program will provide evaluation, stabilization, and brief treatment for adults in a supportive, trauma-informed environment. An integrated, multidisciplinary team of professionals will provide individualized treatment and develop a comprehensive discharge plan that emphasizes family support and community resources. Schedule (3 positions): three 12-hour shifts with rotating days: 7pm-7:30am
  • Two Rivers Landing is a state of the art, short-term residential place of healing for youth aged 11-17 who are in crisis. The program provides crisis stabilization, evaluation, and treatment for up to sixteen youth (male or female) and utilizes an established trauma-informed, evidence-based model of care. An integrated team of professionals provides individualized care and a comprehensive discharge plan that emphasizes community resources and family support. Schedule (2 positions): three 12-hour shifts with rotating days: 7pm-7:30am
  • Two Rivers Landing & Bridges: This is a shared position between Bridges, our adult evaluation & treatment facility, and Two Rivers Landing, our evaluation & treatment facility for youth and adolescents. The two facilities are within a quarter of a mile from each other, so travel will be very minimal. Schedule (1 position): three 12-hour shifts: Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, 7pm-7:30am

Nurse duties may include:

  • administering medications (including injections) and monitoring clients’ symptoms & response to medication
  • counseling clients & their families about medications and treatment
  • completing nursing intake assessments
  • participating in collaborative treatment planning for each client, and offering expertise regarding nursing and medical concerns when needed
  • assessing clients for safety and risk to self or others, and taking appropriate crisis intervention measures when indicated
