Experimental Paint Journeyperson (Milford) 


General Motors Milford Proving Grounds has an opening for qualified Experimental Paint Journeypersons.



  • Prepare body for paint process by removing necessary body panel and emblems
  • Repair defects and imperfections in panels / body with body filler and glazing putty
  • Mask areas for paint with proper tape and paper
  • Application of primer-surface coatings
  • Proper use of DA sanders, block sanders, and other body preparation tools
  • Follow metal treatment procedures
  • Follow proper standards in paint application of body base coat and clear coat
  • Adhere to final finesse polish  procedures
  • Work to body specification standards
  • Participate in engineering/design reviews
  • Inspect vehicle in light booth throughout process to guarantee show quality finish
  • Perform paint mixing applications to proper standards
Position Requirements

Interested individuals must meet the following minimum qualifications:

  • Six (6) years of experience in auto body preparation and painting (notarized documentation required)
  • Ability to work any shift and work some overtime including daily, weekend, and holidays

Applicants must be:

  • At least 18 years of age;
  • Eligible to work in the United States;
  • Submit to a drug test and background check.

General Motors offers a competitive compensation and benefit package. The starting wage is $32.39 per hour.
