Maintenance Mechanic 


Objective: The Maintenance Mechanic will ensure optimum equipment operating reliability and resulting product quality by performing mechanical maintenance on all factory assets.


Mechanic - Observe mechanical devices in operation, make necessary adjustments to functional parts of equipment devices and control instruments to ensure optimum performance, and troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues.  Dismantle devices to gain access to and remove and repair or replace defective parts.  Examine form and texture of parts to detect imperfections or dimensional changes.  Repair or replace defective parts. Install special functional and structural parts in devices.  Clean and lubricate parts.  Start devices to test their performance.  Assist in prioritizing work orders and preventative maintenance tasks.  Communicate findings and work performed both orally and by entering information into CMMS system for that particular asset.  Set up and operate drill press, grinder, mill and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts.  Ensure required spares/parts are stocked for all assets and in particular for preventative maintenance program, and create and keep updated a list of critical spares.

Welding - Weld metal components together to fabricate or repair products, such as machine parts, tanks, and other plant equipment or structures, according to layouts, blueprints or work orders. Perform thermal cutting and grinding, repair broken or cracked parts, fill holes and increase size of metal parts, position and clamp together components of fabricated metal products preparatory to welding. 

Other Factors/ Working Conditions: Working rotating shifts may be required (this position may require a floating schedule).   Overtime may be required.  Excellent people skills are required. Ability to be self-managed and work in a team environment.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls.  The employee is required to walk, stand, sit, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.  The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, color, peripheral visions, and depth perception.  The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts.  The employee occasionally works at elevated heights, in humid / dry or very cold / hot environments.  Employee may be required to wear a dust mask or respirator. 

Position Requirements To be considered for this position, you must have the following:

•High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
•One to three months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
•Familiarity with basic mechanical and/or electrical terminology.
•Ability to recognize problems with various types of industrial machinery.
•Ability to work rotating shifts and overtime as required.

Ideal candidates will also have:

•First Class Steam license.
•Experience in food processing.
