Workers Compensation Specialist I 

Description SUMMARY
Actively involved in all aspects of the MCNC Workers Compensation and Transitional Work programs for all MCNC properties and assists with the coordination of pre-employment medical screening activities as directed. Manage confidential and timely information, upholding the highest HR/Risk Management standards and according to internal policies & procedures. Escalates issues or provides information to Supervisor for resolution.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES
1. Collect employee first report of injury information from all MCNC properties. Ensure that all information necessary to file workman's compensation claim is collected from reporting facility.
2. Accurately complete required documenting paperwork from insurance company and report injury as a claim to workman's compensation insurer as directed.
3. When appropriate, direct injured employee to approved facility for medical treatment (RSC) and/or assist human resource manager from other MCNC facilities in identifying approved medical facility for use to treat workman's compensation injuries
4. Follow- up with treating facility after employee was seen by approved physician to obtain results of the examination, treatment provided & work restrictions placed on employee by the physician.
5. Received written work restrictions from affected employee. Communicate those restrictions to employees' home department manager/supervisor, completing appropriate documentation with affected employee and department supervisors. Goal is to allow injured employee to work within his/her restrictions, preferably in his/her home department.
6. Track any follow-up visits to treating physician/physical therapist on all workman's compensation injuries to ensure compliance to treatment plan by affected employee. Report non-compliance to appropriate supervision as directed.
7. Assist Workman's Compensation Supervisor in ensuring that the affected employee is re-integrated into regular work schedule after completion of all treatment and release from care without restriction is received.
8. Assist Workman's Compensation Supervisor in scheduling pre-employment physicals and HPE's with outside vendor and follow-up as directed.
9. Assist Workman's Compensation Supervisor with in-house drug screen process as directed. Become trained in collection of in-house drug screens and be back-up in collections as directed.
10. Utilize above average diagnostic skills to determine nature and extent of illness and injuries.
11. Apply competent PC skills, such as Excel, Word, Accident Reporting and Recordkeeping software.
12. Utilize strong oral and written communication skills to effectively persuade, inform, instruct or interact with staff, internal and external customers; and developed problem solving skills, conflict resolution, and remediation of hazards/exposures to health risks.
13. Additional duties as assigned.

EDUCATION
Bachelor's Degree in Health Science field preferred; and/or combination of education & experience.

EXPERIENCE
For degreed applicants, minimum of 2 years of experience in workman's compensation claims administration. Non-degreed applicants, minimum of 5 years of experience in workman's compensation claims administration.
 
Gaming License Must obtain and maintain a gaming license.
