Description

GENERAL PURPOSE OF POSITION:   Assist the Office of General Minister by coordinating and facilitating the management of strategic initiatives directed by the General Minister and President and/or the Chief Strategic Officer; provide administrative support for OGMP goals and objectives from implementation, through completion and evaluation.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Facilitate appropriate engagement with technology infrastructure to include internal and external digital work resources, web and social media strategies.
  • A to Z project management of special events and key strategic initiatives.
  • Provide critical support to the General Minister and President and Chief Strategic Officer and in the implementation and evaluation of strategic/tactical initiatives for the denomination.
  • Initiate and manage effective and efficient systems, processes, and checklists to facilitate responsiveness to inquiries received in the OGMP.
  • Assist the work of the CSO in coordinating meetings for Mission Planning Council, President’s Cabinet, leadership staff, strategic planning groups, and other key constituencies/working groups as appropriate.
  • Serve as a primary liaison between OGMP and Executive Ministers, UCC Board Committees, UCC affiliates, partners and constituency groups.
  • Assist the CSO to ensure appropriate follow up pertaining to all tasks assigned to the GMP, including General Synod and United Church of Christ Board requests.
  • Support the CSO to ensure coordination and implementation of programs and special events initiated by the GMP.
  • Coordinate all communication to the GMP.
  • Primary responsibility for coordinating GMP schedule (in conjunction with CSO) and travel.
  • Facilitate cultivation of past and current major donors to enhance their relationship with the UCC and increase the likelihood of continued philanthropy.
  • Work collaboratively with staff to develop UCC donor recognition strategies, programs and vehicles.
 
Position Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and/or abilities required to perform successfully in this position.

  • A college degree in a related field or equivalent experience, or a combination of academic study and experience.
  • Experience in the philosophy and practice of philanthropy in the non-profit sector and demonstrated ability to work in the area of donor recognition strategies.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and diverse personalities.
  • Commitment to and theological understanding of mission, stewardship and philanthropy.   
  • Desire and sensitivity to work in diverse racial, ethnic, cultural and religious settings with commitment to diversity in the workplace as well as in one’s understanding of mission.
  • Ability to maintain and properly handle confidential or sensitive information.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and collegially as well as independently, exercising initiative with appropriate follow through.
  • Demonstrated written and oral English language skills.
  • Technology literate with a capacity for computer database systems.
  • Limited travel within the United States.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Demonstrated ability in donor relationships, donor recognition strategies, and donor stewardship.
  • Demonstrated experience in office coordinator and office management functions.
