DEPARTMENT: Marketing and Sales

REPORTS TO:  Vice President of Marketing and Sales


SCHEDULE:  Days, subject to change according to business needs



The Marketing Manager is responsible for guiding and implementing the marketing strategy. The main focus of the position is the development of marketing programs that represent the products and brand in a consistent and effective manner along with business analysis and reporting. In addition, the Marketing Manager supports leads the marketing communications (website, literature, presentations, and trade show and conference activities)


Business Planning

  • Performs business analysis and market research in support of the annual planning process and to guide sales. Helps sales to identify market segment opportunities and customer targets.
  • Supports the preparation of market opportunity analyses for product-market combinations of interest.

Marketing and Communications

  • Prepares and manages and annual marketing budget.
  • Serves as liaison between Idaho Milk Products and website developers, ad agencies, trade publishers, printers, writers and various marketing services agencies. Administrates website content, managing updates as needed.
  • Writes/edits and delivers to the Sales Managers, materials that support our customer intimacy business approach. This may include literature pieces, articles, presentations, whitepapers and other forms of communication. Ensures style and messaging are in alignment with the brand platform.
  • Supports the development of effective communication strategies and strong, supported product benefit statements that are protectable and aligned with customer and consumer interests.
  • Maintains a centralized archive of presentations, marketing materials and sales support items, confirming that all available materials remain sharp and professional and of a consistent style and messaging.
  • Monitors communication response data and other performance and marketing metrics.
  • Ensures the proper use of logos and brand guidelines
  • Leads internal marketing campaigns.
  • Qualifies website inquiries and refers to sales.

Sales Support

  • Supports sales in the preparation of sales presentation materials
  • Maintains presentation library, literature, and sales support tools, developing new materials as needed.
  • Administrates and maintains customer resource management database and reporting
  • Oversees the organization of trade show and conference exhibition for effective representation within budget.
  • Prepares communications such as press releases, event announcements, annual quality information, etc. and distributes to customers and prospects.
  • Provides assistance generating new leads
  • Oversees the sample request and fulfillment function

Analysis and Reporting, Project Management

  • Performs quarterly business analysis and reporting and routine business analysis.
  • Conducts market research on competitors, markets segments and products.
  • Coordinates and leads various internal projects ensuring that critical dates are met

Management and Site Coordination

  • Manages Marketing Specialist
  • Oversees Marketing and Sales group activities, working with the Location Site Manager to address location topics and the Vice President of Marketing on departmental topics.
  • Responsible for delivering a unified voice on departmental topics and supporting consensus within the marketing and sales organization.
Position Requirements




  • Required: Associate’s degree in marketing, communications, business or other related field.
  • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, business administration or other related field.


  • Minimum 4 years marketing experience in business to business setting; employee management and dairy ingredients experience preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in managing personnel in a highly diverse and challenging work environment
  • Experience with business planning, presentation and literature development, communications, market research, sales support, marketing administration and other relevant activities
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and also collaboratively to achieve defined goals on time.
  • Experience analyzing information, solving problems, highlighting relevant information and suggesting appropriate actions.


  • Knowledge of marketing principles, marketing analysis and marketing communications
  • Knowledge of technical writing rules for effective communication to a broad audience
  • Moderate to strong knowledge of North American food marketing.

Skills and Abilities

  • Experienced and skillful in the areas of management, consensus building, organization, prioritization and time management. Ability to coach colleagues and employees and demonstrate disciplined leadership.
  • Self-motivated individual comfortable working individually and as part of a team. Able to manage multiple tasks and projects efficiently within the context of a fast-paced, environment.
  • Strong computer skills, especially Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint. InDesign, content management and Customer Relationship Management software experience preferred.
  • Capable writer and editor with an eye for detail.Able to prepare presentations, reports, protocols, action plans, business and customer correspondence.
  • Effective at presentation of information and strong spoken language skills for presenting to and responding to questions from customers, managers and colleagues.
  • Demonstrated project management skills.
