General Motors Baltimore Powertrain has a need for qualified Machine Repair journeypersons. Working under minimal supervision with a high level of independent judgment and problem solving, the Machine Repair Journeyperson specializes in maintaining production and quality by ensuring operation of industrial machinery and mechanical equipment. The Machine Repair Journeyperson needs to be flexible enough to take on multiple job assignments in a shift, and be skilled at priority setting, as it relates to how jobs are completed.


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Maintain, dismantle, repair, and replace mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic components on industrial machinery, shafts, motors, chains, motors, generators, air compressors, cranes/hoists, conveyor belts, engines, pumps, bearings, cylinders, gears, couplings, valves, linkages, ball screws, high speed CNC spindles, coolant systems and filters, and combustion equipment.;

  • Maintain machine specifications and blueprints

  • Machine and system troubleshooting

  • Work with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) on complex machine issues or repairs

  • Repair responsibilities for CNC's, gantry systems, gear making equipment, assembly line systems and tools

  • Use measuring tools such as calipers and micrometers

  • Basic understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerance

  • Operate a variety of hand and power, and shop tools

 
Position Requirements

Interested individuals must meet the following minimum qualifications:

U.S. Department of Labor Completion of Apprenticeship Certificate in Machine Repair or six (6) years of documented experience in Machine Repair (notarized documentation required)

Available to work any shift and work overtime including daily, weekend, and holidays

Applicants must be:

  • At least 18 years of age;
  • Eligible to work in the United States;
  • Submit to a drug test and background check.
  • Experience with maintenance of CNC machines preferred
  • Ability to work well in a team environment
  • Experience with combustion equipment and/or heat treat systems is a plus
  • Experience with gear fabricating equipment is a plus
  • Experience with PM systems, planning related to MTTR, MTBF, etc. is a plus
  • Experience with predictive technology is a plus
