Manufacturing Production Support 


Manufacturing Production Support (MPS) maintenance technician responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing and problem solving manufacturing process equipment. Must be able to function in a manufacturing team culture where GMS (Global Manufacturing System) principles are highly integrated.


  • Understand, support and execute all work in a safe manner using the established procedures, methods and safe working requirements.
  • Provide technical support in a complex production machining and assembly environment.
  • Assist on planning and scheduling predictive, preventive and reactive maintenance activities.
  • Maintain, troubleshoot and perform tasks on all equipment
  • Support all production operators, systems, & tools to achieve all throughput and uptime targets.
  • Support weekend and off-shift needs as required
  • Support spare parts process.
  • Participate in Global Manufacturing System (GMS) Compliance, Business Plan Deployment (BPD) process, and the global Best Practice process.
  • Participate in continuous improvement, failure mode and effects (FMEA) and preventative failure mode and effects (PFMEA) workshops with the production teams and other staff as required.
  • Follow plant change control process emphasizing documentation and communication

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems including: electricity and electronics (PLC, HMI), controls and instrumentation, mechanical drives, pneumatics, and hydraulics
  • Working knowledge of process equipment operations, sequence, error proofing and diagnostic capabilities
  • General knowledge of preventative maintenance and predictive maintenance principles, blueprint reading/schematics
  • Knowledge and ability to participate in the Throughput Improvement Process (TIP) and Continuous Improvement Process (CIP) to attain maximum Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE)
  • Knowledge of high volume assembly and precision machining equipment
  • Welding
  • Ability to grasp and learn complex systems
  • Problem solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to use one's hands and power tools
  • Ability to multitask in a highly flexible environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills to work well with others
  • Strong computer skills

Position Requirements

Interested individuals must meet the following minimum qualifications:

  • Two-year technical degree (Mechanical, Electrical Background) or equivalent experience
  • Ability to work any shift and work some overtime including daily, weekend, and holidays

General Motors offers a competitive compensation and benefit package. The starting wage is $21.50 per hour.
