Description

The Sr. Security Engineer is responsible enterprise deployment and configuration of new and repurposed security event auditing information system components as required and in accordance with all enterprise policies and procedures. The Sr. Security Engineer will serve as the lead for technologies such as ArcSight, SAAS and Splunk and others. IRS Public Trust Clearance is required.

This position is in support of Enterprise Security Audit Trails (ESAT) work for the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) in New Carrollton, MD. The ideal candidate should have proven experience in managing security assessment and authorization programs as well as experience implementing and managing programs at a CCMI Level 2, or higher. Plus, have the employee management and operational experience necessary to run an exceptional program with excellent customer evaluations.

  • JOB DESCRIPTION: In support of ESAT, the Sr. Security Engineer is will research, identify, and demonstrate detailed knowledge of ArcSight, SAAS and Splunk and others technologies as it applies to ESAT. The Sr. Security Engineer will be responsible for supporting the completion and maintenance of required enterprise documentation and artifacts related to ESAT programs, projects, and work streams:
  • ARCSIGHT, SAAS, SPLUNK SUPPORT
  • PLATFORM AUDIT PLANS
  • TESTING SUPPORT
  • INFORMATION SYSTEM INFRASTRUCTURE SUPPORT
  • SOLUTION IMPLEMENTATION SUPPORT
  • COMPUTER SECURITY INCIDENT RESPONSE CENTER (CSIRC) SUPPORT

The Sr. Security Engineer is expected to be involved with developing solutions to customer issues, provide technical writing, and /or risk reviews.

 
Position Requirements

EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree or higher, Technical background or certifications are preferred.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

• 10+ years of experience working on projects or programs
• Qualified in security, and certification in one of the following: CISSP, CISA, CISM, CRISC, Security +, etc.
• Technical management experience with track record of successfully leading teams
• 5+ years of experience in management of security assessments
• MS Office Suite to include: MS Project, MS Visio, MS Excel.
• 5+ years of hand-on experience with ArcSight, Splunk, and SAAS.
• National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Special Publication 800-53; in particular, the AU family of controls
• Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS) Publication 199
• The Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA)

DESIRED SKILLS:

• IRS experience
• Specific knowledge and experience with the IRS ELC
• Working Knowledge of NetWitness
• Working software development in writing scripts.

CLEARANCE REQUIREMENT:

• US Citizen in order to obtain the IRS MBI Clearance. A valid IRS MBI Clearance is preferred.
• IRS requires a Public Trust Clearance that entails a detailed income tax and credit review. If you know you will not pass and IRS tax and credit review, please do not apply. The IRS makes no exception to this requirement.
