Help Desk Technician

Summary:    Provides help desk support to end users on a variety of issues. Identifies, researches and resolves technical problems pertaining to the organization’s core system (AS/400), desktop personal computers, peripheral devices, software applications, and telecommunication equipment. Will also respond to telephone calls, email and personnel requests for technical support. Documents, tracks and monitors the problem to ensure a timely resolution.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  Essential duties and responsibilities include the following:

  • Troubleshoots problems with computer systems, including troubleshooting hardware and software, e-mail, network and peripheral equipment problems; makes repairs and corrections where required.
  • Assists in instructing staff in the use of standard business and administrative software, including word processing, spreadsheets, e-mail,  and database management; provides instruction or written documentation where required.
  • Prepares end user documentation as required.
  • Aids in training users in the effective use of both hardware and application resources.
  • Tracks and coordinates with other IT employees to resolve problems if necessary.
  • Installs upgrades and configures network printing, directory structures, rights, security, software and files services.
  • Performs basic network troubleshooting to isolate and diagnose common network problems; makes repairs and corrections where required.
  • Will create and maintain network user accounts, user environments, directories, and security for employee Active Directory information.
  • My assist with the planning, design, research and acquisition of new or upgraded hardware and software systems; maintains current knowledge of hardware, software and network technology and recommends modifications as necessary.

Perform other related duties as required or assigned that are in the spirit of this job description and position as necessary for the Bank and the Department to function effectively.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This job has no supervisory responsibilities

 

Education/Experience:

Associate’s degree (A. A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office; Internet software; OS software for both PC and server; Project Management software and Database software.
