Description

Special Operations Forces (SOF) Language, Regional Expertise, and Culture Instruction (LREC) Instructional Systems Specialist (ISS)

Summary:

The ISS will assist with the transition of content into different formats for execution in the classroom. The ISS will conduct various learning and development design projects. The ISS responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: curriculum review, front end and task analysis, training effectiveness evaluation, and identification of opportunities for process improvement. The ISS shall track metrics and key performance indicators for training effectiveness, conduct needs analysis and review existing learning options and ensure they align with industry best practices. The ISS will assist delivery teams to ensure successful transition of curriculum from development to classroom.

Specific duties may include:

  • Assess and analyze language training technologies and classroom environments to enhance the effectiveness of the 1st SFC’s unit LREC Training Programs.
  • Analyze facility and equipment usage and recommend improvements. Recommendations shall seek to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the unit LREC training programs.
  • Ensure readiness and preparation of classroom technology to support training.
  • Inventory and maintain accountability for all facility equipment within the unit Language Training Facilities in support of LREC programs, not covered by the organization’s communications and IT staff.

Required Qualifications:

  • Shall have at least a bachelor’s degree in any field,
  • 4 (four) years of Instructional Technology or equivalent prior experience researching and recommending new instructional methods, advising faculty and administration about curriculum development.
  • At least 2 years’ experience manipulating existing curriculum to meet changed requirements and providing the necessary feedback to make improvements in the classroom.
  • At least 1 year of experience with developing and analyzing programs, evaluating results, and using findings to plan and install new or modified programs.
  • Highly proficient computer skills—including Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint, Blackboard, Captivate, Photoshop, Articulate, Adobe eLearning Suite, and Sony Sound Forge—to create rich media distance learning materials.

  • Effective use of diplomacy, tact, and judgment.
  • Ability to work well independently; demonstrated creativity, self-discipline, and organization; and ability to search and understand new technologies and their potential
