SUMMARY
Responsible for analyzing blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare separate material accumulations for the projects LaForce is bidding.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
-Review blueprints and specifications in detail.  Look for discrepancies and communicate appropriately.  Also, review to get a general overview of the job. 

-Quantifies LaForce materials by size, brand and type.
-Separate materials into price-able format by department. Questions on how to bid a specific aspect of the job should be communicated with the appropriate department in the Company.

-Communicate with pricing departments within the Company concerning the materials needed for the project.
-Resolve discrepancies and inaccuracies with sales, architects and contractors.  Use own judgment to decide the best way to handle the discrepancy. 

-Send RFIs (Request for Information) to architects and/or contractors to get additional information on the project.  (i.e. discrepancies, missing information)
-Review amendments and addenda and updates take-off with new information.  This could include revisions, rebids or having all new plans submitted for the project.  Additionally, there could be a request for parts of the projects to be broken out differently or to include different types of product. 
-Responsible for managing the timing of submission of bids.

-Prioritize different projects and deadlines.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from a college or university preferred; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. A mechanical aptitude is preferred. Previous experience is not required.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to understand construction specifications and general conditions. Must be able to communicate concerns, concepts and technical information verbally and in writing. Must be able to write legibly, clearly and correctly.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Must be able to perform all basic mathematical functions including simple geometry, fractions, decimals, radius, ratios and all percentage functions.

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule format. Must be skilled in time management.

COMPUTER SKILLS

Must be familiar with Microsoft Excel and Word.  Also must be willing to learn additional LaForce computer software.
