About the Organization KMHS is Kitsap's nonprofit, designated community mental health provider for adults with acute and/or chronic serious mental illnesses, and children with serious emotional disturbances and their families. Description

PURPOSE:
Provide on-going supervision of clients in the Youth Inpatient Unit. Participate in all program activities and as milieu treatment team member.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Participate in on-line supervision of clients as assigned.
  • Lead or participate in program activities as assigned.
  • Participate in milieu, individual, group and family therapy sessions as requested.
  • Provide input in development of treatment plans and in their implementation.
  • Implement intake and discharge process as requested.
  • Provide therapeutic interventions for assigned clients.
  • Maintain a safe working environment.  Demonstrate competency in using verbal de-escalation skills, both from MPAC and other trainings.  Demonstrate competency in the use of mechanical restraints with clients in crises.
  • Complete all necessary paperwork in an accurate and timely manner to assure compliance with all agency, statutory, regulatory, funding, and treatment team requirements.
  • Provide transportation for clients as needed.
  • Participate in court hearings as appropriate.
  • Serve as Acting Shift Supervisor as requested.
  • In addition to the above, any other responsibilities appropriate to the position and not specifically listed in the job description.
 
Position Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  High school diploma or GED with six months relevant work experience or Psych Tech certification.  Experience working with adolescents preferred. Valid drivers license.

Note: Sex (female or male as applicable) is a bona fide occupational qualification for the position of Mental Health Counselor (former title of position) at this time, under an opinion letter of the Executive Director of the Washington State Human Rights Commission.

PHYSICAL CONSIDERATIONS:  While performing the duties of the job, the employee is required to stand, sit, use hands and fingers, reach with hands and arms, talk or listen and lift up to 50 pounds.  Peripheral vision is also required for this position.  A fair degree of flexibility and strength is required in this position due to the infrequent, yet essential, use of one’s body in the temporary physical restraint of some clients.

 

 
Salary $13.42/hr.
