I. Purpose of the Job
Under general supervision, to performs a key role in maintaining good housekeeping GMPs and Sanitary conditions in the Production and Packaging areas. also maintain equipment in the plant in a sanitary condition for the processing of food and health of our employees and customers.
II. Major Duties and Responsibilities
To clean and sanitize all assigned production lines. This is done by CIPing production lines, or manually cleaning equipment by dis-assembling pumps, mills, and other process equipment and putting the equipment back together for all production lines. Also responsible for cleaning overhead pipes, conveyor, seals on equipment & the changing gaskets as needed.
Emptying of trash as production line containers become full & control of empty barrels inside and out. Pick up of empty pallets when barrels are picked up.
Performing assigned master sanitation activities other than general cleaning. This may include inspecting equipment, performing saftey inspections (fire extinguisher and eye wash stations), tearing apart pumps, and cleaning drains etc.
After proper training period, actively participate in the training of new hires and /or transfers. Also keep up with yearly training which includes LO/TO, PPE usage, Hazcomm training, and other related topics.
Conduct AM duties, which include general cleaning within the facility. Examples include bailing cardboard, collecting building and lab trash, mopping floors, sweeping floors, and cleaning/foaming non-typical areas.
Inspect magnets and filters for contaminates and their source
Cleaning of the compacter pad when the compacter is hauled away to be emptied. Also clean up of medium to large product spills during production. Will utilize floor scrubber and other tools to do so.
Comply with all GMP, Safety Procedures, Company Policies, Quality Policies, and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points as they apply to this position. Fill out the appropriate paperwork related to these policies.
Grounds Keeping All Seasons: The pick up and removal of trash outside on the ground and in containers. Winter: The removal of snow from all exits and entrances. Salt application as needed for ice.
General building cleaning. Special task as assigned by the Sanitation Supervisor.
III. Education and Experience
High School diploma or equivalent experience.
Must be able to communicate in English.
Food plant experience preferred.
IV. Knowledge and Skill Level
Above average mechnical aptitude. Able to follow process flows and understand how process equipment works within each system.
Chemical safety training .
Requires excellent observation and auditing skills and a good understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices.
Capable of being forklift certified.
V. Scope of the Job
He/She will be responsible for the cleaning and sanitizing of the entire area that he/she is assigned to clean for that night. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to signing off on the proper sanitation documents, keeping track of chemical usage such as titration of his/her own chemical on a daily basis, working in a safe and efficient manner at all times. He/she is also responsible for the total sanitation and cleanliness of his/her assigned area, this includes but is not limited to all process equipment, piping, over heads , packaging equipment, walls, floors, lighting fixtures and ceilings. Must wear appropriate PPE for each assigned task.
