Job Title:  Help Desk Technician

Employment Status: Full-Time

Job Summary: Under limited supervision, uses skills gained through training and experience to assist users in resolving IT related problems through discussion and diagnosis and takes the necessary steps to remedy the problem. Refers problems requiring specialized intervention to a higher level. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate phone, email, and help requests from customers in need of IT technical support.

  • Monitor PC equipment flow within facility so PC equipment is re-utilized

  • PC Administration:

  • Provides support, installation of hardware/software and recommendations on PC platform.

  • Maintain security patches and anti-virus software on desktop and laptop systems.

  • Provide additional support to other teams such as A/V and Networking issues.

  • Be actively involved in coordinating and testing automatic software patching and configuration tools.

  • Discuss with users the best practices for PC maintenance and performance.

  • Troubleshooting endpoints such as: printers, fax machines, telephones, mobile devices, traditional and non traditional workstations.
  • Running cable to facilitate the addition of network drops.

  • Providing tutorials to end-users in need of assistance in regard to any applications we support.

  • Provisioning and deploying physical machines to enable users to connect to their VDIs.

  • Performing rudimentary Audio/Visual set-ups for internal events.

  • Maintains currency in IT technical support techniques

  • Operates standard office equipment and uses required software applications.

  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

 
Position Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of:

  • Windows OS and Office required

  • Internal and external ITIL standards and methodologies desired

  • WAN/LAN and Remote Access (VPN)

  • Anti-virus, mobile devices and PGP encryption is required

Skill in:

  • Operating standard office equipment and using required software applications, including all applications listed above.

Ability to:

  • Partner with other functional areas to accomplish objectives.

  • Gather information, identify linkages and trends and apply findings to assignments.

  • Interpret and apply policies and identify and recommend changes as appropriate.

  • Organize and prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

  • Work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.

  • Provide a high level of customer service.

  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships at all levels of the organization.

Educational/Previous Experience Requirements:

Minimum Degree Required:

  • Associate’s Degree

Required Disciplines:

  • Information Technology or a relate field

  • At least two years working experience in a corporate environment or any equivalent combination of experience, education, and/or training approved by Human Resources.

Working Conditions:

Hours:            Normal business hours.  Some additional hours may be required.

Travel Required: local travel between business sites
